Please Pass the Jug My Way!
Dior La Collection Couturier Parfumeur MITZAH is a truly gorgeous incense perfume! All day while testing this perfume I was sniffing myself in delight and even considering the possibility of buying the large economy-size bottle.

Which brings me to a small digression and mini-rant: why are prestige house putting out jugs of juice? In this case, there can be no doubt that the juice in question is perfume--probably edp, to be more precise. MITZAH has great longevity and sillage. So why in the world would anyone of normal human body size need a 450ml vat? This trend we have seen chez Chanel and Guerlain, and I have to say that I don't comprehend it at all. The price per milliliter of these sometimes splendid creations is often less than that of low-brow chemical soup! But the consumer is expected to make a large volume commitment. So you cannot buy 1oz of MITZAH, though I do believe that 1oz would last a very long time.

That said, MITZAH, a sumptuous oriental featuring incense, honey, rose, labdanum and patchouli, among other notes, is breathtakingly beautiful. Please pass the jug my way!

Her only reason for living is elegance
Christian Dior was known to love all women and was a very loyal, shy person: he did not like to get used to strangers and preferred to keep good friends close by.
This explains why many of them became long-term companions in the "Maison Christian Dior": as competent employees or, like Mitzah Bricard later, as his so-called "last muse".
Originally, she was responsible for his hat collection. For Christian Dior, a "model" without a hat was incomplete.
He could spend hours searching for the perfect hat while the corresponding mannequin had to stand ready and pose according to his instructions.

The charming Monsieur Dior dedicated the saying I chose as the title to Ms Bricard.
On November 12, 1900, she was born in Paris as Germaine Louise Neustadt; her mother was English, her father Austrian.
She married twice: after the death of her first husband, a Roman diplomat, she chose the very wealthy Hubert Bricard as her second husband.
Even in her youth, she was considered part of the Paris "Demi Monde"; later, she became known for her fondness for leopard prints.
If she was not referred to as his "muse," she was called "Christian Dior's Leopardess".
She inspired Dior's summer collection in 1947 featuring leopard print.

So it is no wonder that the fragrance introduced in 2010 by François Demanchy was named "Mitzah".
Although it is not known when and why this name came about, it paid tribute to a "woman of divine chic and fascinating charisma" who made a significant contribution to the still young company.
(In the meantime, a collection of scented "Mitzah" scarves has also been released.)

Bright, transparent honey appears as the carrier scent note for all the oriental spices:
Coriander and cardamom blend with warm cinnamon aroma. They all unfold intensely and spicily, paving the way for the proud rose with her elegant scent personality.
Smoky and sensual, the impressive base of this composition approaches: flattering and earthy-golden brown through patchouli, vanilla-warm and resinous, the senses always slightly scratching, labdanum and a good dose of incense!
And of course, amber must not be missing; it envelops this sensual fragrance being with a fine veil: scent-turned mystery - eternal femininity!

This creation is pleasantly long-lasting; but it also needs warmth to unfold in all its beauty.
I liked the spicy oriental fragrance composition from the very beginning; it is very wearable.
After I took off my thick coat yesterday after a longer and somewhat tiring walk, the "real leopardess" seemed to leap out at me: full of sensual warmth and eroticism!
The floral scent had fully and ripe opened.

So "Mitzah" has two faces for me: that of an everyday woman, beautiful and a bit conforming; and that of a sensual woman who might reveal her secret!

04.18.2025 - Addendum:
In her book about "Miss Dior" - Catherine Dior - the author Justine Picardie writes about Mitzah Bricard in essence:
"If there were a perfume for this woman, it would be dark, sensual, etc."
She writes this in the early 20s of this century in the former residence of Christian Dior in Granville.
Had she researched carefully, she would surely have found this fragrance that was already released in 2010.

The Scent of a Muse
Hello there :)

Today I'm here to talk about a Dior Privée fragrance, namely Mitzah. Now, one might first wonder what this somewhat oddly sounding name means, in case one has never heard it before. Well… Mitzah, or more precisely Mitzah Bricard, was one of the most influential women in Christian Dior's life. She became his source of inspiration, so she was his muse, who was among other things responsible for the fragrance name "Miss Dior."

So, since Christian Dior held this woman in high regard, he named one of the fragrances after her (or rather, the fragrance was named by Demachy! Thanks for the tip, Etamher!), which also made it a women's fragrance instead of being unisex like most fragrances in this line. Which is actually good, otherwise this fragrance would probably have been one of those scents I could have smelled when a salesperson insisted on showing me the Dior Privée fragrances. What would have been so bad about sniffing it, you ask?

Well,… HE sprayed various fragrances from this line on HIMSELF, and I was supposed to smell these fragrances on HIM… and, well,… I really don't like sniffing other guys, aaaargh!!!
Completely different from when I get to sniff around you ladies… uh… well… :DD
And besides that, I prefer to try a fragrance on myself :D

Anyway, let’s get started with the scent description!

The Scent:
At first, I smell resinous incense, a lot of patchouli, sweet-spicy notes, which I assume come from labdanum and honey, as well as light roses.
A little later, the scent becomes spicier and also seems a bit drier. There are still sweet notes from the honey, now also a bit of cinnamon, and earthy patchouli. The mentioned dryness reminds me somewhat of straw flowers, at least a little. However, the dry note doesn’t last too long, as the resinous notes soon radiate stronger and make the scent feel airier, but also softer.
Oh yes, I haven’t been able to detect coriander so far. Of course, I find that quite good, but fans of this devil's herb might be slightly disappointed :D
The sweetness of the scent later smells more and more like amber, as the sweet scent loses a bit of its spiciness and becomes "brighter," although the scent itself remains spicy, argh, this is a bit difficult to describe, and I hope you understand what I mean. These spicy notes combine with the incense to create a wonderful scent that smells great with the amber. There’s also a pinch of rose. In the later base, in my opinion, amber is the strongest scent note, while the spicy notes gradually fade away, but the resinous scents remain, keeping the fragrance soft and somehow even a bit creamy at the end.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is quite good; one (or actually, one woman!) is enveloped in a nice cloud of fragrance and radiates it well, so it can be easily detected by many without having to get too close.
The longevity is also very good, as the scent smells great from morning to evening. Twelve to fourteen hours are definitely achievable.

The Bottle:
Oh yes, the bottle. My opinion on the bottles from this fragrance line is probably not favored by most. Sure, the bottles are incredibly high-quality, no question, but they are just too minimalist for me… The bottles are simply cylindrical, which is still okay. But especially the label, which is just white and shows the fragrance name without any frills and doesn’t even have a frame or anything, seems WAY too simple to me, almost as if the bottle were an oversized sample tube and someone had printed and stuck the fragrance name on it… well… The cap at least is nicely magnetic and shows Dior's logo on the top. So it's still just okay, but for me, there are definitely much prettier bottles, even among the exclusive fragrances of a brand (like those from Armani!).

So, the fragrance has turned out quite nice. Well, actually more than quite nice, because especially later it smells really great. At first, it’s a bit too patchouli-heavy for me personally, but then it becomes softer, spicier-sweet, and really smells wonderful.

It has something oriental-elegant about it, and in my opinion, it fits especially well for going out in the evening, preferably on cooler autumn days or winter. It also has (at least at first) something mature about it, without being old-fashioned. A test is definitely worth it, but as I said, you should let the fragrance develop for a little while before making your judgment, as it smells significantly better later than at the beginning.

And try to spray the fragrance on yourself when testing, otherwise you’ll have to sniff a complete stranger's scent like I did, who is also quite enthusiastic about the fragrances and keeps spraying them on himself, causing all the scents to mix since they are layered… :DD

That’s it for today, and I wish everyone a nice evening :)

It strongly resembles amber sultan but sweeter, softer, the spices do not take the nose as in Lutens. More feminine, a LOVELY Honey/Incense

Patchouli, honey and incense without that musty church vibe. Cozy but confident. I really like it.

Delicately smoky, complex spice, very lightly sweetened, warming resinous. Perfect for autumn. Some sweet root-like note is off-putting.
