Retro earthy leather cologne

It would be quite difficult that a scent like this one was marketed for women nowadays, its earthy leather and spicy character is from nowadays perspective too masculine to even call it unisex. Just a matter of trends I suppose, I can't even think of a today's scent I would connect it to. In fact, it smells older than 1970s, I would say is nearer to pre 2nd war leather eau de cologne creations, so I guess already retro feeling when it came out.. There are flowers (carnation and jasmine) and agrumes in it but no sweetness at all. This one is an elegant bitter dry green leather cologne, spicy, animalic and woody, at least it is on me. Fascinating long lasting drydown, for those of us who enjoy almost any kind of proposal on leather and dare to wear vintage scents in a proud and carefree way.

Cavale means escape,

I am quite curious about how Fabergé came up with this name. Nothing drives me to escape here; on the contrary. I would probably chase after the person wearing this fragrance to absorb as much of its scent as possible and ask what it’s called.

Cavale was a blind buy; I was browsing the internet for vintage fragrances, a lucky find, like Revillon 4, Bizarre, and Sharra. It can certainly go wrong, but this spring, fortune was on my side.

The fragrance starts with green citrus fruits, sour, a bit bitter, and rebellious. Quickly, patchouli and deep green, woody herbs follow, aromatic, bitter, and irresistibly appealing to me, with oakmoss and leather forming the base. When I wear Cavale, I think of autumn, my favorite season. Colorful leaves, misty clouds through which the warming sun slowly breaks, the scent of damp forest floor…man, I want autumn... I rate the longevity as good, and the sillage as medium to good. And of course, this fragrance is unisex, definitely.

Cavale is a child of its time, a green, woody chypre, typical of the 70s and 80s, when women's fragrances could be bitter and masculine, more rugged than many men's fragrances today. I think anyone who likes Aliage or Cabochard will like Cavale; they play in the same league.
