A wonderful vintage - suitable for a confident woman
Tigress came to me through my mom in November 2023. I found the slender 30ml bottle with a gold cap and amber liquid along with other vintages, vintage minis, and a few forgotten bottles of mine in a drawer in the basement. I am thrilled. What a discovery! I estimate it's from the 80s - whether before or after the reformulations is unclear to me.
Tigress Cologne starts off with a strong spicy-sweet opening, then within a minute, for me, undefinable notes come in and it transforms into a floral-spicy fragrance.
A warm feeling spreads within me.
A recognition. A comforting scent.
I keep sniffing, and within the first 5 minutes, the earthy oak moss comes through. I have a memory of walking in the woods, and I smell this slightly earthy, mossy scent with every step I take on the springy forest floor, and something vanilla-spicy-floral lingers in the air. It’s spring or autumn... the sun is shining.
The fragrance is incredibly well woven and feels very alive to me - it shifts from one moment to the next.
After 2 hours, the oak moss recedes more into the background, and I am surrounded by a sweet-spicy, earthy, and floral scent. It then continues like this and becomes quieter over time. Since I washed my hands after 5 hours, I didn’t experience the "end," but I estimate that it will last about 8 hours. I will add a note on that once I have had the chance to wear Tigress Cologne overnight.
Since I smell the oak moss here very strongly - especially really how I know it from my essential oil extraction - I did some research. Oak moss is hardly found in its original form nowadays, only synthetically in perfumes. It has been very limited in use since 2004 due to a high potential for allergies (because 3 people in a small study reacted allergically to it!) and many perfumes have been reformulated because of this.
