Milkshake on a Construction Site, Drugstore Flowers in a Concrete Mixer
Lactose-creamy start *gag*. Sweetly aromatic elements. A gourmand with floral sillage that comes off as feminine. Resins and myrrh are missing.
However, the milky-caramel aspect is not as horrific as with the culprit "Khamrah / خمرة | Lattafa / لطافة". This is only meant to serve as a reference for this one point. It does not smell like "Khamra".
Thus, the fragrance is rather floral-sweet, with a distinctly milky creaminess of caramel. Many would probably like the "Concrete" from the series the most because of this.
The sweet floral notes, however, remind more of drugstore products in the style of Câline.
If the moment is right, you can catch sweet lavender and a white floral freshness, only to fall back into the caramel gourmand territory.
I don’t get much, if anything, from patchouli and myrrh. Nothing earthy, nothing smoky. Marginal resinousness. Not worth mentioning.
In terms of thematic accuracy as well as my personal impression, "Concrete" feels like a misstep. Is it concreted over the theme?
Regarding the theme of concrete, this one does not come close at all. I would have imagined something dustier and drier, something more urban.
Yes, new concrete and freshly mixed concrete do indeed have a subtle creamy, sweet component, but not as exaggerated as here. "Concrete" instead comes off as conventional and not masculine at all.
What is confusing are the notes in the heart. On Parfumo, they list heliotrope and cocoa, while on Zara's online presence, they mention cocoa and tonka instead.
What is stated on the bottle completely misses the mark, as it lists orange blossom absolute, marshmallow accord, and vanilla extract. So what is it now? Somehow everything fits, except that I don't perceive cocoa and tonka, but rather jasmine seems to be missing from the list.
The bottle cap is again made from authentic material. Concrete or plaster. The upper area is structured differently from the smoother sides.
You can see the artisanal traces from the manufacturing process. That feels pleasant.
In rainy weather, I finally experienced a bit of dustiness and minerals. However, this creeps in, sometimes in a richly luxurious pleasant way, sometimes in a nasty caramel-like way, with creaminess. An unsettled perfume that probably needs further maceration. I will take another look in a month and again in three months. Currently, "Concrete" appeals to me the least from the series.
Aside from the thematic consideration, it is a fragrance that aligns with the spirit of the times.
