Brown Jasmin
While looking for another Franck Boclet perfume - "Erotic", I somehow stumbled upon this one. A quick pyramid scan on Parfumo was enough. A floral with animalic notes? *add to cart* Here we go again, impulsive blind buy number xxx.
It turned out to be quite a lucky shot as it is a distinctive scent, not to everyone's liking I guess. As the name suggests, you get lots of jasmin here, but it is surrounded by spice and musks. Don't expect a happy white floral for summertime. The composition is somber, serious and dark dark brown.
It all begins as a fascinating old-mannish spicy cologne. A strong opening dominated by pink pepper and coriander seed. Soon this settles down and the floral heart appears. A variation of flowers are present. The jasmin is on and off, while the dusty dry coriander note persists in the background. The musks in the base give off a warm leatherish skin sensation. It's primal, animalic with a faint but peculiar sweet touch. Attractive and intimate in a natural effortless way. The scent remains in this spicy-musky floral state for the rest of the day until it slowly fades out.. In the end there also seems to be a minor resinous note.
Apart from the opening, the sillage is rather quiet, which I prefer. Longevity is outstanding. All in all, a spicy floral with character. A bit somber, but not at all boring. A casual mid-season scent. A pleasure to wear and fitting my preferences quite well. One of my lucky blind buys! Phew!
