Winter
Or rather, "Impressions of Winter" - well, what can one say about outside Winter smells? Snow does not smell, it just stares at you, stark and white. Or, maybe, slush, walked over and brown ... has a smell. This is what I get from this perfume. By the notes, there are plenty of them, and yet, this perfume is so subtle that it is barely there. I have neglected it for that reason, it does not make a great statement. It just sits on the skin and right now, in the proximity of a close computer screen - while typing - it is a quiet little companion. Not wanting to be loud, just there.

A fine perfume, and if I want to imagine Winter, I can. Where the sounds are muffled, where bright sunlight reflects from white snow, with the dark traces of a few fresh foot steps.

Piggeldy wanted to know: "What are winter impressions"?
Therefore, he went to the perfumer Frederic.

"Frederic," asked Piggeldy, "What are winter impressions!?

"Nothing easier than that," said Frederic, "Come with me!"

And Piggeldy followed Frederic to the fragrance organ.

"First, we need some oriental spices, and hardly any fruit do we associate more with the cold season than the mandarin," said Frederic.

Piggeldy asked, "But Frederic, isn't it cold in winter and doesn't it snow?"

"But yes, Piggeldy, but snow is hard to transform into a scent.
But don't you want to know what else is needed to create a winter impression?" asked Frederic.

"Yes, of course," said Piggeldy.

"Next, we need flowers," Frederic continued.

"Flowers," exclaimed Piggeldy, upset! "But no flowers bloom in winter! You must be joking, Frederic!"

"Hm," said Frederic, "With the flowers, the longing for the warm season is evoked," said Frederic. "Lastly, we need some woods, dried apricot, and amber to sweeten it," Frederic lectured further. "Now try the fragrance I created, Piggeldy!

Piggeldy tested what Frederic had created and waited an entire day before he turned to Frederic again. "Frederic, what you created smells quite good. At first, the scent was a bit too spicy for me. Only with the flowers did the balance come, and it smelled best in the end, as it was pleasantly sweet and warm."

"You know, Piggeldy," said Frederic, "This fragrance direction is called oriental. Such scents are only used in the cold season, as they are quite heavy and intense."

"Ah, now I understand," said Piggeldy, "With winter, you associate the smell of Christmas!"

"Yes," said Frederic, "That could be one way to see it."

"I imagine something different for winter," said Piggeldy, "But I am satisfied with your scent!"

All the talking had made the two tired, and Piggeldy went home while Frederic pondered which fragrance he should create next.

What Frederic Haldimann wanted to convey with this fragrance ..
lovingly
icy cold
elegant
dynamic
yet calm
stylish
perfectly balanced
wintry
cozy
sensual
pleasant
trustworthy
.. One wants to wrap oneself in this fragrance and enjoy the winter days. Cinnamon stars and roasted almonds everywhere. The room is flooded with a pleasant blue light, enlivened by a woman with sensual red lips, as if she were competing with the juiciest strawberries there are.. A woman who truly buries herself in her skin and can't let go of her wrist, as it smells so inviting and she feels stunning in her skin. Balance and tranquility fill her internally and cover the atmosphere of the room with a breathtaking positive harmony!
The fragrance is neither intrusive nor does it cause headaches, despite being so magnificent.

Especially the heart note is very present, and one feels enveloped in the fragrance. Jasmine and rose greet each other warmly. Meanwhile, the violets take joyful strolls through the fragrance paradise and satisfy the soul. Always accompanied by a hint of cinnamon and a splash of blackcurrant, which does not come across as overly sweet. The whole is rounded off with a touch of sandalwood and a fine vanilla pod. The fragrance lightly settles on the wearer and in the room. It cools it down a bit as it fades, but the glowing eyes of the woman still convey warmth and security.
Winter, even though you are really getting on my nerves right now, you must also have good sides. This fragrance can be worn into spring, one can hit the sauna, put on their favorite bathrobe, stand on the balcony, drink a blackcurrant-vanilla tea, and let their eyes glide over the snow-covered mountains ..

I have very much enjoyed smelling this fragrance on my ex-wife, and today I found a nearly empty bottle after clearing out a few boxes. A quick sniff at the sprayer and the memories come rushing back.. As if all of it were right in front of me and I see it with my own eyes. It warms the heart. Rarely have I experienced a women's fragrance that is so loving and flattering.

It's a shame that this fragrance is no longer available for purchase, as it is a truly well-crafted scent that one cannot hear everywhere and that not everyone possesses.

Winter Impressions - but all year round
A wonderful scent, like all fragrances from Frederic! He learned the art of perfumery from the ground up; he is a true artist. Of course, he used to create for the big perfume houses. When he realized that the companies only demanded mass production, he stopped. He had his pride! Now he continues to distribute his own fragrances.
Impressions d'Hiver is a scent that can be worn from spring until the next winter. Cozy, but not too heavy and long-lasting, very long-lasting. A bit oriental, a bit cool, a bit fruity, but just a tiny bit, only a whisper passes by. A fragrance that makes you feel good, one you could bathe in. A scent with style. Every fragrance from Frederic has class. There is nothing cheap, ordinary, nothing is mass-produced. When I heard today that he will continue to distribute his fragrances, I was overjoyed. Impression d'Hiver is, like all his perfumes, a fragrance for connoisseurs that accompanies its wearer throughout the day without bothering anyone. Good news - production has not been discontinued. Frederic continues with this scent!!!!!

Winter Flowers
I am testing a fragrance here that I don't know at all, not even the brand, but what can you expect with so many scents? Or should I be ashamed that I don't know Frédéric Haldimann?
Pah, with the name Frédéric, I first think of the composer Chopin anyway; maybe I should listen to Chopin while testing this fragrance…

So the fragrance is supposed to represent "Impressions" of winter? Of course, I have only roughly translated the title; to me, the scent feels more like an all-rounder than a winter fragrance, but read for yourself.

The fragrance:
The scent starts lightly, which means that the sillage is initially so low that you have to wait a minute or two before you can really smell the notes from the top. It begins lightly citrusy with a faint bergamot and a slightly better mandarin. In the background, it is also spicy with the pepper. Through the cardamom (I think), the fragrance already gets its first sweet notes.
In the heart note, it becomes more floral, and I suspect that the initial sweet notes did indeed come from the jasmine, as they smell stronger here. Alongside the jasmine, I find the rose and the violets to be the strongest floral scents here. With so many flowers, the fragrance also comes off slightly typically floral-stuffy.
Just before the base, you can already smell the first fruity apricot notes. Now, gradually, the fragrance becomes warmer, despite the fresh-sounding fruity notes. Because now it becomes woodier, and the scent gains its gentle warmth from the (light) amber and musk notes.
Even though it has often been written that the fragrance is supposed to smell strongly of cinnamon, I find this note rather normal. The floral notes are still detectable in the base, especially the rose.

Longevity and sillage:
Longevity is okay; the fragrance lasts about nine hours on the skin, although it becomes somewhat close to the body after five to six hours.
The sillage is quite mediocre. It starts off very weak. The scent gradually becomes stronger but remains rather average. I don't think it will leave a very strong scent trail, especially since it weakens significantly after a few hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical, thin, and tall. On the front, you can see a nice drawing of a winter-clad lady alongside the name and brand logo. The cap is also cylindrical and chrome-plated. Everything is quite nicely done.

Impressions d’Hiver is a perfume with really many notes, of which you cannot perceive or distinguish them all, but it smells lightly citrusy at first, then mainly floral, and finally becomes rather sweet-warm and spicy.

The interplay of the fragrance makes it more of an all-rounder for me. Well, maybe it's not so good to wear it on really hot days, but on slightly cooler spring evenings as well as of course in autumn and winter, it works quite well.

With the many floral notes, it is naturally a women's fragrance that smells quite nice, and you wouldn't go wrong if you (she…) "sacrifice" an arm to test it. If you can find it, as it has been discontinued by now.

On summer evenings, even more beautiful than in winter. Cardamom, mandarin, a hint of cinnamon. More southern than wintry. Tingling evening warmth under orange trees.

Interesting combination! And yet: it seems that cumin has sneaked in (unfortunately!) but thankfully it only shows up briefly!
