Ylang-Ylang Tree in the Philippines

In the prelude Terracotta starts for me with mixed floral splendor of ylang-ylang and tiare. In the beginning, this was a bit too much for me, but after about 20 minutes, the scent becomes much lighter and the coconut is noticeable. Towards the end of the scent progression, the fragrance becomes quite creamy and floral with a hint of green notes.

When I was visiting my mother, she asked me directly what I would wear. The scent reminded her of the ylang ylang tree that stood behind our house in the Philippines and suddenly the scales fell from my eyes. Now I knew why the scent had such a comforting effect on me.

Although the scent didn't seem citrusy or particularly summery to me, it teleported me to vacation in the Philippines, afternoons behind the house, sitting in the shade of all the tropical plants and listening to the stream. Ironically, before this realization, I tended to categorize Terracotta in the dry heat; I've since come to believe that it would work well in very high humidity, as in the Philippines.

Durability is quite decent with me and the sillage also perfectly fine, in the summer I usually also do not like it so violently, to be honest.

Unfortunately, there is the Ylang-Ylang tree behind the house no longer and until the next holiday is pending, it will coronabedingt probably still take a while, meanwhile, I sit down in the German sun, sniff the terracotta, close my eyes and dream myself into the holiday.
