More Steam!
The slightly dull scent of freshly cooked rice, especially in Asian restaurants, not only makes my mouth water in anticipation of upcoming culinary delights, but also feels cozy, grounding, and protective to me.
The shower gel Lila Reis from Laos by Yves Rocher comes very close to this scent and evokes the same associations.
As a perfect complement, I imagined the rice fragrance from KenzoKi.

In fact, right after spraying, alongside a sharp alcoholic aldehyde note, there is a very subtle hint of cooked rice to be sensed.
It would have been so nice if it were stronger, but it cannot assert itself and quickly gives way to a somewhat indifferent fabric softener-musk-floral quality that I can only perceive very close to the skin.

Already half an hour after application, I can hardly smell the fragrance at all.
Whether one can even speak of perfume under these circumstances is a matter of opinion.
I see it more as a care scent, and some inexpensive standard creams are similarly subtle but significantly more enduring.

In any case, I managed to completely empty my sample of Rice Steam within a few hours, and I sincerely thank the kind donor for this pleasant, but far too fleeting olfactory experience.

Everything but Rice Steam
Dear community, I unfortunately have to vent some serious (rice) steam here!
Today my package arrived, yes I admit, once again I made the mistake of ordering a fragrance 'blindly'.
This time I was really, really sure that with a fragrance pyramid consisting of musk, woods, tonka bean, and rice, I had absolutely nothing to lose. I have also had good experiences with aldehydes so far..
Okay, I'll keep it short:
The scent starts incredibly alcoholic, piercing, and sweet. So sweet, it's unbearable for me. Alongside it comes a synthetic note, I can explain this scent mix with the addition of aldehydes and 'floral notes'. While I think of a warm, cozy scent with woods, musk, and tonka bean, this one reminds me of cheap children's perfume, sickly sweet, artificial, and also not very original.
Rice or rice steam? I can't smell anything of that.
Since I read numerous fragrance descriptions from other forums before my blind purchase, I feel the urge to react to certain descriptions/keywords:
"Clean scent, like freshly lotioned" - not at all! For me, the keyword "glue" fits best here; while one massages it in and hopes it absorbs, I just want to wash this off.
"Doesn't last long, maximum an hour" - I sprayed this body spray at 6:10 PM, it is now 9:43 PM and I can still smell it on my wrist, although not as strongly as at the beginning.

And because some (like me) might be tempted to compare Kenzoki Rice Steam and Kenzo Amour: Just forget it, the scents have nothing in common whatsoever, even if one might suspect that with the notes of rice, tonka, and musk.

As for the caring effect, I can't say much since the scent test on my wrist already deterred me from applying it more broadly.
My conclusion:
I can't even say that the scent is simply 'bad'. What I complain about is that the name "Rice Steam" and the included rice note imply something different and therefore my expectations were not met. Where rice steam is written, there should also be rice steam inside - in my opinion. You can find much more rice in Kenzo Amour and Indian Holy, even in Lann Ael by Lostmarch, which supposedly only contains a grain note, I can smell rice in it.
So if you're looking for rice, you'll definitely find it, but not here.
At the current price of €46.00, it is definitely too expensive for a body spray, let alone an EdT/EdC.

It's really a shame that I can't say more than to sincerely advise everyone not to order this scent blindly but to look for testers...
To all who love it: I'm so sorry to have to say this now, I can't emphasize enough that this is just my personal feeling!

Wishing you a reflective Christmas and a Happy New Year 2016!

Rice Steam for Every Day
A dear Parfumo member once sent me a sample of this fragrance. Otherwise, I would have never noticed this scent. It was available at a time when I was less interested in perfumes.

I was all the more delighted to later find a half bottle online.

The scent is wonderfully delicate. It is a perfumed, caring, and moisturizing body spray. The consistency is that of a perfume. It starts off aldehydic. But very softly, classically, and gently. Musk is also immediately recognizable. Delicate, soft flowers give it a feminine touch. However, I wouldn't describe KenzoKi Rice Steam as a directly floral scent. The flowers, possibly jasmine, accompany the musk very gently.
Unfortunately, I can't detect the rice. It seems almost odorless to me. Rice extract has been added as a caring ingredient.
The base of musk and tonka bean, which also comes across very delicately here, is later accompanied by slightly woody aromas.

The fragrance is ideal for feeling well-groomed and feminine every day. Even in very hot temperatures, the scent remains very light and pleasant.
In winter, the fragrance might be too weak, but when it's cold, I don't use body sprays.
For the warmer season and for in-between, it is ideal.
It is a pleasure to scent myself with KenzoKi Rice Steam after showering and wanting to relax a bit.

The longevity is not bad at 5 hours for a body spray.

Rice is a staple for the Japanese. It is never unpleasant and accompanies all dishes daily. Thus, the name is very well chosen for this fragrance.

Vely Licy
This perfumed beneficial water spray is very subtle yet very interesting. Gentle sandy, ambery, soft notes. Very sensually creamy, Asian-inspired. In fact, the scent lightly resembles jasmine notes from the steam.

Wonderfully soft and refined. Baby powder with rice steam. I hope it will be available again someday, or something similar.
