I think my entire impression of this perfume is sideways!

This is a strange one for me - it smells so much like a clean, fresh, dewy pine tree after a good rain. I think the woody notes mixed with the peach and wormwood are what's causing this, but man.. it's delightful. And perhaps because of pine association, I feel it's most appropriate in winter (or perhaps even spring, with the aforementioned dewiness). That said, I don't get much warmth from this one, either - To me, it's cool, crisp and refreshing. If I had an office job, this is exactly what I'd wear to work. It's pleasant, doesn't overpower, and isn't at all 'provocative' in my opinion.

Which is why I was so perplexed when I saw the adverts here for it. A mostly nude woman lounging lasciviously in an overcoat? And here, I totally pegged this one for an office-appropriate scent!

A delicate, casual scent

I really admire Burberry as a house, and it's not because they create anything particularly spectacular, but because their fragrances exude a beautiful sense of warmth and elegance while remaining casual.

Burberry Body is a lovely fragrance, very much along the same lines as the Sensuous series by Estee Lauder. Both fragrances sit rather lightly on the skin with a cuddly, yet creamy woodsiness.

Some may be initially turned off by Burberry Body's opening, which to my nose was a little chemical, like the scent of insect repellent or hairspray. I was admittedly annoyed by these top notes, and had grave fears for what would follow.

Thankfully Burberry Body improves throughout its development. It's not an extremely loud fragrance, yet it does have good projection. Cashmere wood and sandalwood are the most dominant accords to my nose, followed by musk and creamy vanilla. The rose is very subtle, tending to be more sweet and fresh rather than tart-like.

Although it isn't technically a skin-scent, Burberry Body smells rather natural and smooth on the skin, like a lightly scented lotion rather than a perfume. I love that I can go about my daily business and occasionally get wafts of a beautiful, inoffensive woods and vanilla blend emanating from my wrists.

The longevity is wonderful, really surprising actually. I was thrilled to detect this light fragrance on my skin a good twelve hours after application. I haven't tried the Body Intense flanker, but somehow I don't want to. This fragrance is perfect just the way it is.

Mind and Body

Fruity,rosy and musky.The whole composition is good ,nice blended but.....there is something sharp green (may be the absynthe) that keeps me from not loving it.This is good floral with rose and peach dominating ,the base is soft woody with sandalwood and cashmerian wood .All in all is nice for daily wearing with good staying power.

Nair Depilatory Cream Dressed In A Posh Trench Coat

Prefacing my cruelty on September 12, 2023:

I've had eleven years to smell this out there in the general public. I tried to give it a second chance last year when I stole a quick spritz of my friend's bottle. Uh, no. It's still a big, stinking NO. I asked my friend if she smelled the floral Nair depilatory cream I smelled. She said she could but it was faint. Also, she said it was one of her guilty pleasure scents, like gasoline or bus exhaust—like things we should not mimic in scent.

I was hoping time would soften my opinion. It has only solidified it.

I remember smelling Burberry Body on a co-worker when this first came out. I though it smelled nice but it didn’t exactly leave me coveting a bottle. I wanted to try it out for myself but I just never cared enough to do so. Several months later I came across a sample that was thrown into a bag of loot from Ulta.

First impression? Does anyone remember the scent of Nair from the 1980s and 1990s? It was a frightfully heady mix of artificial generic flowers and caustic chemicals that could fumigate a house. I had a flashback to the summer of 1989, when I tried desperately to find shaving alternatives and ended up stinking to high heaven for days, upon application of Body. I must confess this was not a happy kind of flashback. I shudder when I think back to that incident and I don’t appreciate it when a perfume dares to stir up bad memories.

About a half hour later Body attempted to cover up the toxic depilatory scent with a hearty amount sweaty musk and chemical roses. Vanilla was lurking somewhere underneath but it’s not very discernible amid the nameless chemicals, sweaty musk, and room deodorizer roses. This tenacious little bugger stayed on me throughout the day, constantly mocking me for a bad decision made twenty three years ago. Luckily, others were not subjected to smelling this chemical trainwreck as it stayed close to the skin, as others had mentioned.

Maybe if I had left the Nair alone I wouldn’t be so harsh on this fragrance but I didn’t and now I am.

Does it smell like love and security?

Recently, I experienced a unique and touching situation with this perfume.

"Body" was my latest acquisition in my still somewhat manageable, but not too small fragrance collection. Full of anticipation, I sprayed it on my wrist, let the scent settle for a moment, and took a sniff. Euphoria was initially absent. But it was pleasant, warm, comforting, without being truly sweet. With each breath, I merged more with the scent. Skin, bare skin, lambskin in front of a crackling, glowing fireplace, a wooden cabin... warmth, a fine organza scarf. This image fits. A glass of cognac, a book... not necessarily erotically romantic. Rather disarming, "naked" femininity that has the power to entice... Is someone watching? This is the direction the scent takes. A feel-good fragrance. For myself. Not an erotic bombshell. It doesn't shout. A quiet seducer - just for the beloved. A scent for closeness and security.

What happened next touched my heart. My little daughter stood in the doorway and wanted to know what I was doing. I held out my arm for her to sniff briefly. My arm was embraced, her little nose pressed against it, sniffing and sniffing and sniffing... She didn't want to let go. "Mama, you smell soooo good!" Until her nap, she was practically glued to my arm, running back to sniff again, beaming. In her little bed, she wrapped her arms around my arm again, pulling it close to her... "You smell sooooo nice like Mama!" ...And she fell asleep with a gentle smile.
