The Gentleman Scent

I received this fragrance gem as part of a scent swap, where a nice user sent me his last 15ml along with the bottle! Considering how individual leftover stock is still traded, that is truly commendable.
Cuiron pour Homme hits the ground running right from the start. The leather and wood accord are immediately noticeable. Bergamot and plum play very lightly in the background. I can't detect the mandarin that is mentioned.
Cuiron pour Homme doesn't make any grand scent acrobatics; instead, it pulls back a bit later on. The leather comes more to the forefront here, and the musk adds a touch of softness to the whole composition.
The sillage and longevity are good to very good for a cologne. The bottle is, like all of Helmut Lang's, simple but stylish and fits the fragrance well.
When I wear this scent, I often think of an English gentlemen's club. In its lounge, there are old leather armchairs, and the men smoke cigars while sipping good old whisky.
Cuiron pour Homme is certainly not a disco or teen scent. I associate it with a mature man or gentleman who remains unruffled by much. Those who appreciate leather and have the chance to test it should not miss the opportunity, as many bottles are likely to be unavailable soon.
