Hay Flowers in Aspic
I actually only had my eye on the pretty balloon spray when I blindly bid on Trajana. I didn't expect the contents, an Eau de Cologne that must date back to at least 1972-76, to still be usable.
But it is still usable - although not my taste, it still has something to offer, it is still there!
Behind the so French-sounding name "Mouson" hides a Frankfurt soap and perfume factory that was founded in 1798: J.G. Mouson & Co. It was sold in 1972, and by 1976 all factory buildings were demolished except for a single tower - the Frankfurt "Mousonturm," which still serves as an artist house, cultural center, and free theater today.
The perfume itself is characterized mainly by floral notes - somewhat herbal, slightly bitter, but still with a present sweetness that remains within limits and does not become sticky: lavender, which was surely more prominent originally, jasmine in a pleasant, non-suffocating version, light red and yellow roses - somewhat soapy and clean, but quite pleasant.
Fortunately, the initial sweetness recedes quite quickly and more and more, leaving behind, along with a light oakmoss base, the impression of dried meadow flowers and hay: feminine, floral, somewhat old-fashioned, pleasant. Like cast in aspic, this impression lasts for a good 5-6 hours and could still appeal today if one enjoys this direction.
It is not to my taste, as it is a bit too flowery for me despite the mentioned dry ingredients. But it was still a lovely - because unexpected - glimpse back into a bygone era that has created many excellent perfumes.
