honey, honey and more honey......
I found a vintage miniature of Expression and although it's not what I imagined it to be, I like it a lot. It's actually divine.

Unlike other reviews I'm having an entirely different experience testing Expression. I'm not smelling the strong rose that is mentioned below. Maybe the content of my miniature changed throughout the years? I don't know why it is different, but to my nose Expression opens with straight up honey and bees wax. After the first blast it evolves in a very pretty, balmy and slightly sweet honey and flower perfume. I also get some carnation and oakmoss. Very cosy.... I bet there are also some resins like amber, myrrh or benzoin in there. Longevity is also very good, about 8 hours on me. I wouldn't mind having a big bottle, if the big bottle smells the same.

On a Russian site I found that notes include oak moss, rose, flowers and leather. (just leaves me more puzzled, because no mention of ambers or honey.... also I don't smell any leather). On Russian sites there are some more reviews and over there it is perceived as either chrypre, green and leathery or warm, balmy, woody and animalistic. A few mention the honey note and some don't. They almost all mention perceiving oakmoss and they all agree it's a lovely scent.

A Dry Rose Chypre Classic
A wonderful, complex rose chypre that is well worth seeking out if you love this type of fragrance. I wore this years ago and was lucky enough to find a bottle last year, as it had stayed in my memory. I'm a happy bunny!

Expressive
As a young woman, I was simply overwhelmed: Impressionism - Expressionism, Monet - Manet: who knows such things?
Today I do, I know both artists and am always delighted by their paintings.
Their paintings even hang side by side in a room of the Alte Nationalgalerie on Museum Island in Berlin:
I enjoy them, and in these moments I don't care whether they are painted impressions or expressions.

Jacques Fath, on the other hand, obviously attached great importance to the expression of personality in his composition "Expression" and is therefore a typical representative of the late 1970s, what I call the beginning of the "golden age" of fragrances.
This composition by Raymond Chaillan shows this very clearly.

Here, too, we seem to find ourselves in the garden of the Hesperides, where ripe fruits such as bergamot and sweeter mandarin oranges dream in the dense foliage and let themselves be caressed and pampered by the sun: they radiate this sense of well-being aromatically! This green and fruity variety of fragrances is enhanced by aldehydes, bringing the first smile to the face: a smile as an expression of well-being! This is also ensured by pleasantly perfumed, creamy honey with cloves and coriander - not sticky sweet, but rather oriental-spicy; this mixture invites you to taste it.
The resinous, smoky veil of galbanum that hovers over the summer garden, rich in wonderfully fragrant blossoms, harmonizes perfectly with this and not only marries with the aromas of cheerful carnations and slender irises, but is also a polygamy: Roses and ylang-ylang are of course not to be missed and are embraced just as lovingly.
The scents of this era are characterized by the variety and richness of all the cleverly dosed fragrance notes: They are used generously to adorn and leave memories.
The familiar base fragrance elements such as vetiver and patchouli are not to be missed in their earthy beauty.
And of course sandalwood, creamy, slightly animalistic and eroticizing, has also been skilfully integrated into this expressive creation, accompanied by ambergris and leather accents.
A hint of beeswax hovers over everything, as if to give this expressive work of fragrance art a very special finish, like varnish on a painting.

"Expression" is clear and luminous in its expression, at most becoming slightly weaker in its fragrance/color brilliance over the course of its long shelf life, but without changing its personality.
As an eau de toilette, it is not an everyday but very charming companion throughout the day and is also ideal for social gatherings in the evening.

A high degree of expression
If this fragrance were a "realm", it would be not just one, but many. And at the same time. It would be a dark forest as well as a rose field. He would have seen deep night and bright daylight.
It would be a reason to bright joy, as well as to deep melancholy.
And (that wouldn't be all by far) he could reach for the clouds and dig into the earth.
Expression" is so ambivalent and versatile that spirits can separate on it.
And his "expression" is not only that of a well trained actor, he LIVES what he is.
He doesn't get "roles", he embodies them.
When I put on "Expression," I can disappear all inside him. In its blossoms, resins, woods and mosses.
Like a "magic cloak" from a fantasy story in which the hero / the heroine literally verschmizt with him.
And hardly anything "worldly" can stop me from "being" what I "carry".... An incredible chypre with all facets of my own personality.
And it reminds me of a story I find incredibly touching. Maybe some people know the book / the movie "The 200 Years Man"...........?
