Ignored too long
In my early perfumista days I sniffed my way through most Carons and fell in love with several. Once acquired, they soon sat unused as I explored perfumery, discovering new passions. Tonight Nocturnes caught my eye and I sprayed it on, preparing for bed. What a beauty this classic fragrance is -- a heart of lovely, indolic flowers, a base full of all that's good in a base, and a top of citrus with aldehydes and some green notes. Fragrances like this feel familiar because they've been copied so much. In fact, if I were going to experiment with creating a perfume, I'd go right out and get myself some Bergamot, Jasmine, Rose, Amber, Musk, Vanilla and Sandalwood for a start. My Caron brochure says Nocturnes also has neroli and a luxurious orange is detectable in the top. Unfortunately, on me few Carons have the staying power I like, but they stay long enough to get attention and, in this case, lull the wearer to sweet dreams. Good job, Gerard Lefort, as per usual.
