Let the good times roll...once again…
After I wrote about the first midlife crisis a few years ago in connection with the original "Le Mâle (Eau de Toilette) | Jean Paul Gaultier," of which I consumed several bottles in my 20s, it seems that the second midlife crisis is looming with Le Mâle Le Parfum...
After my Le Mâle Eau de Toilette revival about 10 years ago, which quickly faded again, I had occasionally tested one or another flanker.
However, none of them really appealed to me, and for some reason, I had always ignored this one...
I had almost given up on JPG when I increasingly noticed the somewhat reduced fragrance notes in the fragrance pyramids of the perfume/elixir/absolu variants.
I even quite like the Le Mâle Elixir Absolu and Scandal pour Homme Absolu now.
Since I am indeed a fan of things that are reduced to the essentials, I finally decided to test this version and was actually thrilled...
Le Mâle Le Parfum is indeed a more mature and fuller version of the original Le Male without the shower gel vibes that I so despise, which appear in many of the newer JPGs for me.
The fragrance has a dreamy combination of cardamom, lavender, and vanilla...I actually perceive the iris and the oriental woods as somewhat weaker.
And this combination harmonizes perfectly and does not smell artificial or cheap at all; it just fits...
The sillage and longevity are worthy of a perfume; with two sprays, I get through the day well, and so do my fellow humans and colleagues...the years of consistent overdoing it are long gone.
Well...what can I say, with this version, the feeling from the time of "Le Mâle (Eau de Toilette) | Jean Paul Gaultier," when everything was somehow simpler and more carefree, is a little bit back...just now a bit "more adult and mature," but that probably still lies in the eye of the beholder/wearer and their perspective.
Jean Paul Gaultier and I are definitely friends again.
