Sea of Flames
So.. I created a Parfumo account SPECIFICALLY to leave this review. Because I wish I had a warning before trying this perfume.. it’s A LOT. Like.. a lot a lot. My 19 yr old recent scent-addict purchased a sample from Taiwan. Waited weeks for it to arrive.. it arrived.. a tiny sample bottle with a dark brown oil.
My kid knew it was going to be hit or miss, judging from the notes, but we were intrigued. My husband tried the first spray.. one tiny spray on his wrist. The smell enveloped the entire kitchen. Like paint.. sawdust… fumes… cedar… but like.. dark and curious and exciting, I dig it, personally!! But no one else in the house did. I rubbed my wrist on husband’s, to get the smell on myself (but not wanting to waste another spray of the $28 sample.)
I proceeded to walk upstairs and hand a beverage to my (other) teen child. She immediately says “what’s that smell?? OMG I’m about to throw up!! Get out of here!!”
Def was not her cup of tea! She came out of her room 20 mins later to tell me she couldn’t even drink the drink I handed her bc it smelled like the perfume.
I showered that evening, went to work the next day.. at 2pm, arm still smelling strong!! This stuff has longevity!
As for the notes.. I don’t even know how to describe it. At first, it’s almost chemically.. makes me think of a warehouse where automobile parts would be stored. Then it changes to.. dark woods.. and finally settles into cedar chest. That’s the best I can describe it.
Again, I’ve never written a perfume review before.. and I don’t know if I can reasonably ever wear this fragrance, bc it seems so offensive to others.. but I dig it!!
