I don't like La Rive fragrances. They all smell artificial, synthetic, cheap.... There is only one exception... WOMAN
I can't help it, but to me it smells fruity. Especially after the spicy top note has faded a bit. Is it the trio of fruity, rose, and jasmine that blows me away? Or the entire combination with incense, allspice, and woods? Right after applying, you can briefly smell an alcoholic note. After that, I immediately smell allspice and incense. Balsamic, spicy, soapy. Not at all intrusive, but very pleasant. In that moment, I can already feel a smile spreading across my face. Yes, it is (my) magic scent, one that makes me happy and content.
At certain moments, it reminds me of Peony & Blush Suede Cologne - rose with leather.... but only for 30 minutes. Then it becomes darker, smokier, woodier. To me, it smells neither cheap nor synthetic, but like good cosmetics. Very well-groomed and not stuffy at all. The base lasts a long time, but I love to spray it on again and again; I always carry the 30 ml bottle with me to bring a smile to my face throughout the day.
I am a bit sad that this fragrance scores so poorly with some people. To me, it is a little treasure.
Unfortunately, it doesn't smell good on my skin; it develops a plastic note. However, that doesn't come through on the test strip. I really love Destinée by La Rive; it's actually my most worn fragrance at the moment.
That sounds nice... just wear the scents that make you feel good. Some are totally overpriced anyway - thinking about Burberry's campaign to keep prices high makes me sick. Although I do find Burberry's fragrances sophisticated and chic.
