A Pleasant Surprise
So I had this sitting open, no lid in a cupboard for years and today I was arranging some of my fragrances in to seasons. I couldn’t remember exactly how this smelled and I am very glad I decided to do this because I don’t know if it’s due to sitting open, however in a dark cool cupboard for several years or if I am just getting better at understanding fragrances and their notes but either way this smells fantastic!
At first it was very weak but I was picking up a fresh, sweet opening. I decided to give myself a few more sprays and as it settled I could smell the nutmeg start to come through and then the warmth of the cognac along with the woods and a little more spice and more sweetness coming from the cardamom. Sometimes I don’t like that note but when done right I like it and in Gentleman Elite it is done wonderfully.
At first I rated sillage low but after giving it time for the cedar to kick in the whole thing is projecting better than some of my much more expensive designer fragrances. I actually have over sprayed in all honesty. I think this is still available and would suggest if you are looking for a cheap daily fragrance this would make a great choice. I really am enjoying this a lot. I can smell everything coming from this and the only complaint is the spice is starting to dry my tongue a bit and again that’s my own fault for not letting this settle and reaching for the bottle to spray again too soon.
It has a very oriental smell to it and has me intrigued in finding more fragrances with nutmeg in them.
If you can get this and it doesn’t perform the way I am describing I suggest investing in it by putting it away for some time and you will end up with a very pleasing scent to look forward to.
