Hit
I thank my mom for generously passing on her fragrances to me, but in the nursing home, she has to make do with a "ration" due to space constraints.
One of her treasures is Paris Eau de Printemps.
I do like the original Paris, but I think I prefer Printemps even more.
There is certainly a resemblance - but Printemps is a note lighter, more supple.
At the same time, it is a distinct fragrance - not a half-hearted copy.
The rose and violet are beautifully mild, woven into the delicate, sweet honeysuckle.
Jasmine gently joins in, and the peony quietly waves.
Musk and sandalwood allow the fragrance to gently fade with a light spiciness.
Subtle elegance with a touch of cheerfulness.
When my aunt celebrated her birthday, I gifted her this fragrance - a risk, as she has a very particular taste.
But the response was very positive.
She would never dare to gift a fragrance, yet I managed this feat - so her words of praise.
She will repurchase it.
But I also find Printemps to be a hit - not just for spring-like temperatures.

Do the words "mother" and "not neutered" fit in the same sentence?
Ah, dear noses. Let me tell you something. “Paris Eau de Printemps 2009” is truly great YSL cinema!

For those who appreciate “Paris,” the original scent, let it be known: This flanker has everything that “Paris” has and what makes it so unique: Only the floral sweetness is slightly reduced, and the retro charm is dialed down a bit. Otherwise, everything is the same and just as kneeling-worthy as with “Paris.” The great mother has not been neutered!

For those who do not like “Paris” because it is a bit musty, too sweet-soapy: As already mentioned-- The mustiness is gone, the sweetness dialed down. If even Flori (see below!) is striking a conciliatory tone here, then you can also believe the Peanut: “Paris” skeptics could become fans here! (However, anyone who generally does not like pronounced floral scents will not be happy with “Paris Eau de Printemps 2009.”)

For those who do not know “Paris,” I will try to quickly bring this original scent closer to you (a pointless endeavor in itself, as “Paris” belongs to the fragrances that make verbal descriptions extremely difficult). It is a hopelessly romantic, infinitely floral scent with pronounced soapy sweetness (without being piercing). Even though the rose stands out here, “Paris” is a tornado of spring-like, dancing flowers. The whole thing is imbued with a certain charming mustiness that is not dusty but radiant, flowing, and sunny. Bright, light-filled mustiness. Clear?

“Paris Eau de Printemps 2009” has all of that too: Just a bit airier, less sweet, and less musty.

I will not go into the scent progression of “Paris” and “Paris Eau de Printemps 2009”: It is not particularly dramatic in either case, and a forced dissection would only make this text longer.

So: The Parisian floral orgy continues unabated in this spring version. With the usual intensity, brilliance, and adorability. The sillage and longevity have also not suffered: They are top-notch here as well. And I probably don’t need to say anything about the appearance: I would personally build an altar for this bottle.

You, dear Flori, I include in my prayers: I thank you from here to Paris for the generous decant.

A Lesson for the Skeptic!
I knew and used Opium by YSL back in the day, and I also smelled Paris on an acquaintance. Thankfully, I’m out of the Opium phase and I could never warm up to Paris.

However, YSL has released several spring fragrances inspired by Paris, roughly on an annual basis. So it took me a whopping 20 years to finally take a closer look at at least one of them.

And I actually acquired Paris Printemps!

When I took the bottle out of the packaging, the first thought that came to mind was “aha, so it’s Paris after all.” Then I went pfffffffffffffffftt...

...and it blew me away. What an amazing scent; I smell the honeysuckle, I smell the rose, I smell the jasmine, and also the peony. The violets are subtly in the background, but the others are THERE, and how!

I constantly hold my arm under my nose where I sprayed it and enjoy this wonderful scent. YES, it fits spring, it fits summer, and I would wear it in autumn too - at least on nice days. In winter, I wish for something warmer.

These floral notes last a long time. So far (almost 2 hours), I still don’t smell any musk or sandalwood; I’m curious to see when it comes and if the scent changes then. I will update if necessary.

Now I’m glad that I gave in to my desire and got this 100ml bottle. IT was really worth it.

YSL Paris Printemps is definitely my fragrance direction. This one is not quite as sweet and not as prominent as Printemps by M. Micallef, which I also own, and it smells quite different - which is very good, as I now have two Printemps that couldn’t be more different.

CONCLUSION: I’m happy that I gave YSL another chance.

Addendum 15.5.11: my enthusiasm for this wonderful scent led me to also acquire Roses de Bois and Roses Enchantees. I can’t stop indulging. Delightful...

Tender roses & violets. Soft and buoyant like birdsong and the rustling of leaves swaying in the gentle breeze.

A nice, everyday floral scent that will surely find its fans as a classic mainstream fragrance.

First a powdery-green-beautiful floral mix with rose, then unfortunately for me, indolic white flowers, becoming creamy.
