Iltis in Cleopatra's Milk Bath
Thanks to a travel package, I too have had the pleasure of testing three fragrances from the brand Le Cherche Midi. At this point, I would like to thank FranFan for this opportunity.

The other two fragrances did not really impress me; I found them rather nice but nothing special.

However, the 28 left a lasting impression, albeit not a particularly positive one.

The pyramid already suggests that this is a more experimental scent, and components like milk or gunpowder further hint that it might be synthetic.

28 opens the olfactory journey with a strangely animalistic condensed milk accord. Even on the second test, I imagine a weasel in Cleopatra's milk bath, and I avoid sniffing the sprayed area for a while.

The strange condensed milk accord remains dominant and is then enriched over time with a musty, powdery component that somewhat softens the animalistic aspect, but not enough to make the scent more pleasant.

With the base, soapy incense comes through, giving the fragrance another twist, though not really for the better.
The mixture of soapy incense, traces of condensed milk, and leathery animalistic undertones is still unusual, but for my olfactory sensibility, it remains not truly wearable.

I couldn't identify pear and gunpowder, or did their mixture ultimately create the strange animalistic note? Who can say.

28 is not an everyday scent, and although I do not like it, I do not regret having tested it. Rather, once again, thanks to Parfumo, my olfactory experience horizon has been expanded.

What was the perfumer thinking here??
I don't know. I just can't find any access to this scent... There are certainly concepts with scents as perfumes that work... Demeter likes to play with that or also CB I Hate Perfume. Some are wearable, others at least authentic. Do we need this? No idea, that's something everyone has to decide for themselves. Do I need this? In the majority of cases - no.
28 belongs to the majority...

Seriously, this is an excursion into experimental chemistry, isn't it?

I smell sour milk, a chemically-aquatic note, a bit of salt (but I don't get an association with seawater), something artificially fruity-sweet, and then it also smells burning. Is that supposed to be the gunpowder?

Iris? Leather? Frankincense? Not a chance!

However, 28 lasts well (despite scrubbing for 5 hours on the wrist) and I can't get it off my nose... Fortunately, the sillage is in the moderate range, so at least my surroundings are mostly spared.

Who let the bear milk burn?
First of all, many thanks to Franfan for giving us the opportunity to test some Le Cherche Midis.
Unfortunately, the package arrived just in time for me, so I didn't have as much time to test as I initially thought, and I had to quickly decide which one I would test more thoroughly to write a comment.

Since this one has my birthday number, and it didn't have any comments yet, I decided on #28.

Again, the pyramid makes little sense to me.

Milk is very recognizable, especially at the top, where you can smell a kind of sweet milk, a sort of bear milk or that sweet English thick milk if that means anything to anyone?
You can also buy it in German supermarkets (or at least in Indian shops), "pure" it is certainly eaten by fewer people, but it is used in England for some desserts. However, I don't know much about that, as I almost never eat sweets, and even less the kind made with this special type of thick sweet milk.
Milk pudding smells different, so don't confuse it.
But milky, thick, and sweet is the top note.

It lasts relatively long, only to make way for a more aquatic note, which is not my thing at all. Whether it should be Fleur de Sel - salt flower??? unfortunately, I can hardly speak any French, although Parfumo has some information - I can't say either.
And how gunpowder is supposed to smell, I can say even less!

The whole thing has a really synthetic undertone, but I have to see this gunpowder as a marketing trick, as No.28 really only smells of sweet, thick milk at first, then after about 2 hours it changes to a synthetic, slightly aquatic tone.
And it stays that way.

No leather, no iris for me.
And even less pear.

If anything, then more honey to the milk, which is most likely coming from the incense given in the pyramid, a little bit of something burnt - but I can't really recognize incense as such...
I only suspected it and thought there might be some incense. Unfortunately, not a nice one.
Within the first 2 hours, there was also a bit of something sharp, which I could again attribute to a little pinch of pepper. But gunpowder? In any case, it doesn't smell like Chinese firecrackers, New Year's rockets, or star rain sticks, which I could then consider as gunpowder.

Quite strange overall.
The top note is indeed peculiar; with more time, one could get used to it and perhaps even find it pleasant in a special way, it is certainly extraordinary.
But for me, it's far too sweet at first, and later on, far too synthetic and unpleasant.
The longevity is also impressive - with water and soap, you can't get rid of it that easily, but this synthetic base still smells on the skin the next day, luckily the sillage is no longer there.
You can only spray something strong and spicy over it to cover the scent, so I advise against testing this "fragrance" on the neck unless you find it great from the start to the base.

Due to the top note, I can still give 30%, but for my birthday, I will definitely prefer other scents - I won't wish for burnt bear milk with pepper as a birthday dessert, I'd rather have classic rice pudding if there's no strawberry cake!

Le Cherche Midi really doesn't seem to be my brand, as I have smelled much better and more interesting "unbearable" scents, for example from Comme des Garçons.
Cheers! ;)

Is it art or can it go?
Do you have to do everything that comes to mind?

This question arises for me every time with such combinations. But let's start from the beginning:

Right at the start, I recognize both gunpowder and leather. Just a moment later, the pear appears, very sweet and fruity, supported by a delicate powdery iris. I like this fruit-flower combination, which lasts a long time, gradually becoming creamier (I don't know if that's supposed to be the milk), but without losing that fruitiness. Unfortunately, what doesn't fade away is the leather, which here unfortunately presents itself neither as soft velour nor as rustic saddle leather, but rather as a coarse, smoky blacksmith's apron. The incense accompanies our blacksmith and acts as a scent enhancer, without being recognizable as a separate element.

The blacksmith's apron recedes over the hours, leaving behind the fine pear-iris.

Well, now the question arises: has the creator of the fragrance spoiled it with the strange ingredients, or do they merely cover up an artificiality that would be boring and uninspired without them?! I don't know, I wasn't there during the creative process. As it stands, this fragrance will not find a place with me, but I would love to ask the perfumer about her intention.

Enough of this now
Why are such experimental scents offered as perfumes? ", 28 Le Cherche Midi", Belle, you expressed it delicately: you "can't access it." Neither can I!
I only smell a disgusted corner where someone stands in an old leather jacket, just come in from the rain, it's warm outside, it stinks of cigarettes, cigarette-smoked leather, and spilled sticky soft drinks without any fruity aroma. And it gives me heartburn! Unfortunately, I can't give it a 0%, not even with a new operating system. Milk, jasmine, pear? They are not present. And that's a good thing.
Fleur de Sel? I am a fan of Fleur de Sel, from Murray River, Australia, pink; Salinas des Carmen, gray-pink Fuerte; Fleur de Sel Camarque, gray, Fleur de Sel de Guerande, depending on the place pink to gray, I have tried many. Tomato without 'Fleur de Sel' is almost impossible for me.
But I can't smell anything there, only taste. It is never as salty as rock salt, and the crystals are crisp, very fine to paper-thin. The feeling on the tongue and in the mouth as it melts is the delicious part. C'est tout!
Is the precious salt perhaps supposed to act as a catalyst?
No idea, and I won't worry about it any further.
There are other such cigarette smells from ELdO, for example. I don't need to have them all. Not this one either!
Addendum: When you layer this scent with "Domol Laundry Freshener" (cheap Febrèze), then 28 neutralizes to something slightly sour-sweet, almost floral. And you can wash it off easily.

Gunpowder, leather? I don't know. But it smells terrible. Musty, urine-like, and just plain disgusting.

I don't smell any animalic notes, cigarette smoke, or anything gross like most people here.
For me, it's fresh laundry and gunpowder.
