The Search for the Perfect Monoi Scent, Part 2
Aloha once again!
The search for my perfect beach-summer-monoi-coconut scent continues here.
The Vanilla Monoi perfume from Les Petits Plaisirs crossed my path while browsing online, so once again, a blind buy.
The scent starts off very direct and punchy - just like the one from Part 1.
However, here it comes with a full load of vanilla, sweet ylang-ylang, and tiaré flowers, and it stays that way. A big advantage for those like me who are not fond of jasmine: It does not turn jasmine-y!
Unfortunately, I can’t detect any coconut here, and the musk listed in the fragrance pyramid eludes my nose.
It is a scent with a sillage and longevity that is impressive - especially considering the low price. It lasts and lasts and lasts. Easily ten to twelve hours, although it does become weaker over time. On hair and textiles, it sticks like glue - in a positive sense. :)
And I had another wonderful experience with this scent:
It gets better with higher temperatures!
In other words, when it gets warmer outside, I find the scent more beautiful and harmonious. Somehow, the tiaré flowers come through even more, smelling bright and delicate like glass bells. *tingelklingelping* Do you know those glass bell mobiles that chime softly when a breeze passes? That’s exactly how I perceive the flowers in this scent, and that is truly enchanting and surprisingly remarkable in this price category.
Overall, it’s a great perfume that I will wear often, especially in nice weather.
Unfortunately, this is still not the perfect beach scent for me that captures my memories of summer days by the Baltic Sea, so the journey continues.
For fans of tiaré, vanilla, and ylang, this is an absolute recommendation. Just be cautious with the dosage due to the strong sillage, so as not to overwhelm those around you with the scent.
