The Devil Wears Prada-Tutu
“I want a second pony. I want a canopy for my pug. I want the Dior patent leather shoes without the patent. I want gold leaf on my cupcake. I want a Bentley for my hamster. And I want it now.”
Father, mother, chronic sulker. Pampered, polished, preened, and dressed from head to toe in Dior. Daddy's darling and nanny's bane. Neat, coy, never nice. Scented with childish cleanliness, the powdery-subtle hint of a luxury brat and cherry lip gloss.
This is “Clean Baby Girl.” Still in line with the baby schema, with a certain dry-clean nobility and the signature of “Clean.” But unfortunately also quite prickly: Even before I laid eyes on the fragrance pyramid, I guessed there was an abundance of ylang-ylang. And ta-da!
Moreover, so much plastic cherry is mixed into the seemingly innocent powderiness (especially in the top note-perhaps the violet with a botched orange creates such a blend), that the clean innocence gets a bit too much kitsch.
So this “Clean” is not for me. I would have wished for more softness, cleanness, and less fruity sweetness. In other words: I would have thrown the spoiled brat into the wash tub and polished her clean from top to bottom.
Thanks, bunny! And I did find it after all: The not-quite-hit ;-)
