Very old fashioned
Wow, what a truly distinctive, creaky patchouli scent! Just the thing for a tweed suit, I would say.
At the beginning, however, there is no trace of patchouli, and I perceive the scent in the top note as more herbal than citrusy. Could it be that the leaves of bergamot were used instead of the fruits? Who knows!
After about 10 minutes, the scent becomes more angular, and the floral heart accord develops more spicy than sweet. Whether this spicy effect comes from the base or if the stephanotis is responsible, I cannot say, as I am not familiar with the scent of this plant.
The base is then truly old fashioned, super creaky, and evokes a certain barbershop feeling in me. I do not perceive amber, and I can say the same for the musk. The patchouli is earthy, but rather dry, and this effect is finely supported by the cedar.
To wear this scent, one needs a preference for vintage perfumes and probably a dose of self-confidence. But who knows, when you look at the trendy hipster look among the youth these days, I find patchouli from Anglia Perfumerie to be a more fitting scent than any modern water.
