Spicy Ylang, Jasmine, and Vanilla Blend
MPG FLEUR DES COMORES smells very Christmas-y to me: spicy ylang-ylang with dark jasmine and smooth vanilla. The composition is similar to Guerlain AA YLANG & VANILLA, but FLEUR DES COMORES is a bit more complex, with a spiciness not derivable from ylang, jasmine, and vanilla alone, it seems to me. Perhaps there is a dash of allspice here? There is definitely a spice-cake quality hovering over the flowers.

To my nose, FLEUR DES COMORES is really a cold weather perfume. Relatively heavy and warm and snuggly--just right for winter days in Boston with freezing temperatures and wind. Perfect for the day after Christmas. Probably too heavy for summertime.

Beautiful Tropical
This is quite lovely. The ylang ylang has that green banana note to it but it is balanced well with the discrete sharpness of the blackcurrant and passionfruit. The jasmine smells top quality and as for that vanilla.........well! It has a smoky, not leather, as that would be too much, more of a warm skin feel to it. Divine.

Juicy-fruity-tropical "Desert Island" scent
Fleur de Comores was my MPeG favorite years ago and then fell a bit into oblivion after the bottle was empty. But that was a big mistake, because I'm just now realizing what I've been missing all this time... The holiday flair that this scent exudes! A whiff of it and off I go to Bali!
When I first encountered it about 6 years ago, I wasn't familiar with Ylang and Vanilla from the Allegoria line by Guerlain, but I already loved Mahora hot and passionately. I see, or rather smell, some parallels and similarities between these fragrances, but also the following differences: Ylang Vanille is cozier and less fruity, Mahora is significantly sweeter and therefore less wearable... but all three transport me to that... Bacardi feeling from the 90s.
FdC has a very delicious fruity opening that doesn't smell synthetic at all, but rather very fresh and pleasant to me. A wellness bomb for the senses. I perceive the heart note as tropical and velvety... also wonderfully soothing and a balm for the soul.
The base does the rest: It cuddles and radiates what the musk and amber provide. Vetiver? Where? I can't smell it, but I certainly believe the guys from MPeG that they stirred some in, because I think I can subtly detect a little grassy note (somewhat like Blue Grass by Arden), which I would have guessed was banana leaves.
A dream scent!
I can't get enough of it.
Definitely addictive, because with it you can escape the evil gray everyday life without expensive plane tickets and travel cancellation insurance!

Muchas gracias, white flower!

Flowers of the Comoros...
After I explored the Fijis a few days ago, today I am once again dealing with tropical islands. This time with the Comoros. A federal island nation in the Indian Ocean with just over 600,000 inhabitants. An island paradise with lush vegetation. They have specialized in the cultivation of vanilla and ylang-ylang.

Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier have also taken on this theme and created a fragrance that is meant to evoke the beauty of the Comoros, with all its flowers and fruits. I already own three fragrances from Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier, alongside Bahiana and Vocalise Extravagante, I also have a men's fragrance, Jeune Homme Extravagante. When I read the pyramid of Fleurs de Comores, I didn’t hesitate for a second when I was offered the fragrance at a very good price and jumped at the chance. I absolutely do not regret it, as this scent truly reminds me of lush, blooming vegetation and exotic fruits.

Fleurs de Comores is a wonderful, multi-layered fragrance that greets me with a fruity-green opening. I can already perceive the vetiver here, with its calm, green spiciness.

The fruity-green and pleasantly sweet top note does not disappear, as one might expect, but is carried into the heart note. It is a delight, and my husband said it smells really good. The heart is defined by soft jasmine, which forms a unity with ylang-ylang, while orange adds a fresh juiciness.

In the base, vetiver becomes a bit stronger, which removes some sweetness from the fragrance. Amber and musk provide spiciness, yet the scent remains soft and wonderfully balanced.

This fragrance somewhat reminds me of one of my other treasures: Bouche Baie by Nez à Nez.

With this fragrance, autumn and winter can come. They can’t harm me! I’ll just take a trip to the Comoros...

Tropical Feeling with a Soliflore
Well, MPeG and I -- we have had a very special relationship since my first sniff of Bahiana. If I had to choose just one house from which I could test all current and future fragrances, it would probably be MPeG (all because of Bahiana, yes!).
Like Bahiana, I also perceive Fleurs des Comores as a tropical scent -- and of the adult kind. In this case, I would almost call the fragrance a soliflore, because everything revolves around the Ylang Ylang flower. Until recently, I used to collect a lot of essential oils, and I was particularly enamored with those of the Ylang Ylang flower. Hardly any other floral scent makes such an enchanting impression on me as that of this strange, vanilla-colored flower. And the heart note of FdC comes very close to the most beautiful versions of real Ylang Ylang. I also really like that the floral scent has a slightly fruity and lemony character, thanks to the passion fruit -- it almost smells a bit like green banana. This heart note lasts quite a long time before it recedes a bit and becomes softer. I can't pinpoint exact scent notes here anymore; the Ylang Ylang flower is still dominant for me, and neither vanilla nor musk nor amber stand out in any other way than to add a soft note to the composition.

Anyone who doesn't like Ylang Ylang can forget about FdC; however, for those who, like me, are completely taken with the flower, I can strongly recommend testing FdC.

Only criticism: The longevity is unfortunately meh! After an hour, I can't smell anything anymore.

Pure melancholy: a women's fragrance as nostalgic as it can be: a resting power of blossoms, musk base with sweet notes: wistfulness!

A thoroughly classic floral perfume on a creamy musk base. Jasmine stands out a bit more. I miss a bit of the exotic.

Impression of biting vintage neroli in the top note, then shifts to a harmless, creamy ylang-ylang. Summery and rather subtle.

A herbal, green-spicy scent of ylang-ylang, fruits, and maybe the wood of black currants. I'm surprised it's categorized for women.
