a little strange but definitely enjoyable.

ylang-ylang and spices blend together and create a kind of strange top note that‘s similar to but not exactly like pickles. don‘t worry though, because the jasmine, resins, and other notes soon rise to the top and balance out the fragrance. it‘s definitely not mainstream but enjoyable and reminiscent of vintage colognes.

however, now that i have this intense version and the original waidmanns heil, i can say that the original is better.

something about this fragrance makes you feel like you took a shot of straight adrenaline though, i‘m not sure why.

Vintage masculine vibe with that Rammstein edge

Old school chypre made without, according to the not tree, typical chypre notes. It has a classic masculine vibe but updated with a Rammstein edge. I'm surprised galbanum isn't listed in the notes because my nose is convinced its there. I have a great love for the craftsmanship of many of the fragrances of yore, and this one scratches a similar itch for me, but manages to form its own identity. Resins, prickly spices, conifers, and aromatics round it out. Potent performance but not beast mode. Needs a wearer with a strong personality and good sense of style.

I wasn't sure if I could wear it at first, but after several months I revisited it and have completely come around. If you're a sophisticated collector who loves exploring chypre-style fragrances from the past, you'll probably love this. This is a worthy reinterpretation of the classics.

Big Game Hunting

With the first hunter, I liked the packaging from the outside a bit better. With the new one, it's the content. The green-petrichor forest floor note is inherited from its predecessor, but in a tropical-leafy, swampy-spicy expression. This must be due to the vetiver-leather combination.
I also clearly detect nutmeg here. I interpret the spiciness as a subtle whiff of gunpowder that wafts through the humid, warm tropical forest after a shot has been fired.

All in all, it is stronger, spicier, and more daring. The old hunter is fresher, finer, but also more subtle.

I will wear this one in summer and winter, and its slightly fresher, less hefty predecessor again in spring.
Purchased and no regrets.

Leather Boots and Gunpowder Smoke

The beginning is a bit stinky (possibly the clove?) - strongly spicy and smoky (the pepper?), which will deter many. Immediately, I had to think about what the perfumer might have been thinking during the development.

Should leather boots and the gunpowder smoke of a hunting rifle in the forest among tall fir trees be represented here? I couldn't find any trace of deer hide and green wooded thickets (Waidmanns Heil) here, anyway. The scent is already significantly stronger at this point than its predecessor if applied accordingly.

I had to spray quite a bit to be able to smell the perfume in my surroundings. The first impression was that the scent has a weaker sillage than Waidmanns Heil.

This was confirmed, as after a few hours it was only close to the skin, but more pronounced. Overall, both scents are very similar in the drydown, but this one does become a bit stale. The better of the two is definitely Waidmanns Heil for me.

I discovered the tester earlier at Linde - uh, Rossmann, after some searching among the women's fragrances next to Pussy and Rosenrot. A bit strange, as I would describe it as more masculine. Upon the first spray, Déjà-vu: this is the old green-herbaceous-coughy Waidmann. But wow! In the next second, Ylang-Ylang unleashes a burst of concentrated eroticism and gives the whole thing a distinctly more aggressive note. From the powder cloud, there indeed wafts a hint of Egoïste, Antaeus & Co from days gone by, although thankfully the pronounced soap note is absent. I cannot perceive the fir forest despite all the olfactory acrobatics. Sillage and longevity are, as with the other Rammstein fragrances, not the strong suit of Waidmann Intense either. A refined development is also not present; it simply becomes weaker over time. All in all, however, it is an independent and self-assured representative within the entire line. I like it very much. Give it a try!
Addendum 1.8.24: I need to significantly raise my rating regarding longevity & sillage. I wore it again today after a long time, and the stuff lasts and lasts. No idea if it's my nose or if it has matured further.
