Lucky Hit and Oud Killer
By chance, I tested this fragrance in the store as the first and only one out of several because I was interested in the scent notes, an absolute lucky hit.
Let's start with the few negative aspects of the fragrance. I unfortunately find the bottle and packaging design really unattractive; everything strongly reminds me of fragrances from Zara. The projection could be a little stronger to complete the experience.
Now, onto the positives. I can imagine this fragrance as the absolutely perfect candidate for layering for many. At just under €60, it is significantly more expensive than Zara fragrances, but also considerably less than most designer and niche scents. So there's no need to be afraid to layer it generously. It is particularly ideal for those of us who have many leathery, woody, and oud fragrances but might scare off friends, family, or even partners too much. With this fragrance, you bring a pleasant but not overly dominant sweetness into any scent DNA and make even the most animalistic oud fragrance a rather pleasant companion. (See Ombre Nomade)
The scent progression is almost linear, with slight changes at the beginning. The raspberry is immediately strong and perceivable in a very natural way, bringing a pleasant acidity. After an hour, the peony becomes more dominant, and the raspberry loses some acidity but remains noticeable. The cedarwood cannot be perceived as a separate scent note, but it gives the other two a slightly dirty, sultry note, which is definitely a positive aspect.
Not layered, it may seem a bit too generic for some, but those who enjoy a natural sweetness in a fragrance will find it here.
Overall, the fragrance is 100% unisex, reasonably priced at €60, and possibly the best fragrance for layering in the leather/oud category that I have smelled so far. Despite the designer house, niche enthusiasts can be assured that no one really has this one on their radar yet.
