Morning in the nursery
Not aromatic in the slightest to my nose- it's creamy, powdery and barely sweet, like oatmeal ever so slightly sweetened with fructose and milk. This isn't childlike- this is fully infantile, and I don't mean that in a negative way at all. Baby porridge and powder, a musky nursery scent which evokes feelings of warmth and safety. Unfortunately the creamy barley notes do make it slightly nauseating when overapplied or sprayed in warm weather.

Marigold & Barley - Subtle, delicate, with a mysterious touch
Massimo Dutti has been one of my favorite fashion brands for years. When I read that Alberto Morillas had created a fragrance for them I just had to get it... And I was not disappointed! (Disclaimer: I've never smelled Bal d'Afrique, which it is often compared to.)

The official scent pyramid reads as follows:
Top notes: bergamot, marigold, calendula, cassis
Heart notes: tulip, orange blossom, cyclamen
Base notes: musk, cedar, barley, sandalwood

The fragrance is so wonderfully composed that it's hard to pick out individual notes. I would describe it as very soft, creamy-fresh, and floral. However, the floralness doesn't come from the "usual" jasmine, tuberose, violet, rose, lavender, plumeria, neroli, etc., but rather from a unique marigold aroma - fresh, honey-like, slightly herbal; pleasant and soothing. Add to that a delicate freshness and elegance from the tulip and a subtle powdery quality, likely attributed to the cyclamen (do they even smell?). The base is slightly woody, with a lot of soft, sensual musk and gentle cereal notes - it reminds me of an oat body milk. A very subtle citric note lingers on in the background.

The scent is so great that it will work as unisex, but it would be particularly perfect as a daytime scent for women - I will be gifting it to my mother, and I'm 100% sure she'll love it.

A wonderful fragrance that works anytime, anywhere (except maybe for the gym, as it's too calming). Longevity and sillage for this type of fragrance are good - I have a strong feeling that the aroma will develop differently in the air in the summer heat.

I'm very positively surprised by Massimo Dutti!

Oh dear, how beautiful it is
I now have a large (actually too large) collection, and many of my fragrances are consistently overshadowed and rarely worn.

This little, quite inconspicuous Dutti is always right at the front, and when I have no plan in spring and also in summer, it gets worn.
And time and again I think to myself: This is really great, and I keep receiving compliments because it’s just pretty and everyone likes it.

However, if I had to describe it, I find it difficult because the individual components described don’t smell as I would imagine.
Barley
Marigold
White Tulips
Leave me puzzled.

But I can tell you that the scent is truly unique.
A bit floral and a bit creamy and very lightly spritzy, citrusy.
For me, the most wonderful cheapie.

Feel-Good Scent
I already have a few pieces of clothing from Massimo Dutti, and after this scent was recommended to me here on Parfumo, I bought it blind.
It reminds me very strongly of Bal d'Afrique by Byredo, but without the fruity notes.
I find the combination of marigold and barley very successful; the tulip also makes it a feel-good and everyday scent. I love the grain notes, which make the fragrance wonderfully soft and creamy. When my children were small, we always had marigold ointment, and I loved to sniff it back then, and the scent reminds me of that freshly applied feeling, totally clean and beautiful without being boring. The price is great, and you can enjoy this little treasure for a long time. This mix of creamy, powdery, and fresh is just right for me. I can easily imagine it as a signature scent because it is never intrusive or too much; on the contrary.

A miracle of a well-composed, creamy-soapy scent that shamelessly copies Bal d'Afrique Eau de Parfum and makes it guilt-free.

soft flakes gently fall -
and on the spicy tops of marigolds
a creamy white tip gathers

The namesake notes don't fully resonate, but it's a cozy, late-summer fruity scent with a silky, peaceful aura.

For me, it's almost identical to Bal d'Afrique - fresh and floral with a hint of woodiness.

Really very similar to Byredo. Minimal less fruit, but creamier and cleaner. Unfortunately, also a bit like fabric softener, otherwise it would be a 9/10.

Floral in a rather bold way, yet fresh and creamy. Underneath, a hint of vetiver. Despite other notes, it leaves a lasting impression.

Received today in the swap package and I'm in love. Wonderful floral scent, delicate, creamy, elegant. The grain note makes it special. Wow

Gentle floral freshness nestled in a creamy barley note. Feels pleasantly cozy and very well-groomed. Beautiful!

For me, it's an absolute scent twin to Byredo bal d'afrique, with a more balanced sweetness that isn't so sharp.

If Byredo is too expensive for you, you can confidently opt for this one, despite the completely different scent notes. This one is a bit less fruity and more subtle.
