you go to "Maxim's" after all
Even today, a visit to "Maxim's" in Paris is still a pleasure!
After the versatile fashion designer Pierre Cardin took over the famous and often sung about establishment in 1981, this place experienced an unprecedented renaissance.
I still remember how amazed we were at the time, as we had some of his accessories in our wardrobes.
But it's not just the men's world that goes to "Maxim's" these days; not only the variety show, but also an excellent restaurant and an art nouvelle museum attract international guests.
The women's fragrance of the same name, which was launched in 1984, is not a mysteriously dark creature, but exudes French elegance paired with summery cheerfulness. It is still a pleasure to dress in this floral chypre-like fragrance.
Even the opening offers surprising variety:
Rich, dark moss and spicy mint are accompanied by the delicate aroma of fruity watermelon and the familiar freshness of bergamot.
A beautiful entrée for the classic flower garden in the heart of the fragrance, where all the beauties we love so much meet:
Rich, ripe rose aromas, amid sensual white-flower scents from a variety of jasmine, lily of the valley and tuberose blossoms, gracefully proclaim the joys of summer.
Ylang ylang vines with their light honey-scented blooms tie a bow around this magnificent bouquet, over which proud iris ladies lay a net of fine powder.
This hint of honey that the ylang ylang blossoms give us intensifies as the fragrance progresses.
But this is where honey really comes into play: Light blonde, creamy honey, the scent of which tells of many blossoms, grasses and other stopovers by the bees collecting it - how wonderful!
Warm musky vanilla, with a dark violet heliotrope scent in its wake, provides further sweetness, but the creamy, slightly masculine animalism of sandalwood, in combination with elegant amber nuances, provides a sophisticated counterpoint.
"Maxim's de Paris pour Femme" gives us and this composition the time it needs to fully develop the fragrance.
The path to the radiant finale is anything but arduous: many different impressions of the numerous fragrance notes give us charming lightness with typical Parisian flair.
How timeless this fragrance seems: In Paris, people still go to "Maxim's"!
