Velvetastic Velvet
I hope you'll forgive the pun on the name. But without a doubt, this fragrance is extremely cuddly for a representative of Montale's Fruits Collection.
I've used my sample several times now, and today I ventured into the final test. When I applied it in the morning at 9 o'clock, I could not have guessed at all, later in the day, namely at 21 o'clock to think: Wow, how present he is still. And it is! Even now, at 00 o'clock, I can sense the remnants of it on my skin.
In my opinion, perfumes from Montale are quite one-dimensional, but strong. So I already found it with many fragrances from Montale. They do not change so much that one would attribute a specific course to them. What you smell in the top note, remains until the base or you could certainly say the other way around, that you already enter with 80% of the base.
The prelude here is already very nice. Lemon I smell here less. Also nothing else citric to make out. A typically fresh opening as in other fragrances with orange (-flower), neroli or bergamot is thus not given. Instead, the room fills with a mix of red berry, vanilla and coconut. But beware: subtle vanilla. Not a bold hello-here-I-am-I-want-to-eat-you vanilla. And this impression lasts hour after hour after hour after hour ... Hours later, amber and musk are added. You can actually tell, even without knowing the fragrance pyramid. The coconut note steps into the background, but remains present.
Inherent in the fragrance is a note that could be described as cotton or flax, which I've only ever known from Pure Virgin / Eve by TheDifferent Company. It does indeed smell kind of like fresh laundry. But stylish linen. Maybe that's where the velvet reference comes from. Or maybe I'm imagining that Hollister stores used to (and maybe still do) smell like this (I haven't been in one in ages). I can only fantasize about that ;) Should the fragrance but in no way devalue.
Bananas I smell here in vain, by the way, but I go with the synthetics. The mixture of Velvet Fantasy is nothing that you would find anywhere so again and therefore also not to be classified as natural.
Beautiful he is nevertheless. Alone the durability is the madness. But what good is the superior durability, if the fragrance does not like? I imagine in any case already times, as he will soon hold as the first Montale entry into my collection.
