A Cousin to L'Ombre Rose
Based on the reviews I've seen, the perceptions of Keiko Mecheri MIHIME are really all over the map: from Nivea to fruity-tooty to...I'd say: L'OMBRE ROSE. I have compared a number of niche roses to the superb drydown of the super-economical Jean Brosseau creation, but in this case, I actually find that the opening, too, bears similarities.

MIHIME opens with a baby powdery freshness which lasts less than a minute before transforming into a straightforward but beautiful dried-roses perfume on my skin. I do not find this fruity or sweet or Nivea-like at all. Nor do I agree with the classification of this composition as an oriental floral. To me, this is a very appealing, somewhat vintage-smelling, rose-heavy floral creation.

I like MIHIME a lot, and if the same ground were not so well covered already by L'OMBRE ROSE, I'd consider adding this big sillage perfume with impressive longevity to my collection. Definitely worth sniffing by rose lovers!

When You Need Special Protection
My first truly conscious fragrance experience was not a perfume, but a cream. I was 14, always had too little pocket money, and could just barely afford a dark blue bottle with the white name tag for dry skin. At that age, I didn't really need a skin cream, but Ah! The smell, the smell...! I felt protected and cuddled by this creamy scent, and protection and cuddles were essential for surviving the tough times of full-blown puberty.

The cream is now a no-go for my very sensitive and high-maintenance skin. Unfortunately, I must say; that cocoon feeling seemed to me to be irretrievably lost until recently.
Until recently. Until I was able to discover Mihimè.

I am still quite new here. I have no experience with fragrances, especially not with the precise sniffing out of individual components and their description.
But I have a nose. And it seems to be directly connected to the emotional center (brainstem? Oh, what do I know) with the storage area in the brain that holds good memories and sometimes releases them.

And so, I was suddenly 14 again when I took my first sniff of Mihimè. I found it again, this soft, warm cocoon that comforts and cuddles me. In the first few minutes, there’s still something sharp, something very bright. There’s a resemblance to the cream from the blue bottle, but more than just deodorant. However, after a little while, the sharpness disappears, and the scent becomes so warm, so gentle, so soft! And it stays right with me, is not at all intrusive, it doesn’t shout, but whispers; just to me, softly in my ear (in my nose...?), a secret like between best friends. Exactly like back then.
Who actually says that one (woman) doesn’t need just as much comfort and protection at the other end of the hormonal curve as at the beginning?
I, for one, am incredibly happy to have found such a fragrance experience again many, many years later. And I dedicate this experience to my first comment.

Do I really smell like Nivea with this Mecheri?
Mecheri fragrances have always deserved my respect, but they never won my heart. They are truly wonderful scents. Finely composed, harmonious, and coherent. They hug the skin like a second aura. Their drawback, in my opinion, or rather their characteristic, which is culturally intended, is the weak projection. I don’t even want to talk about sillage, as it is practically non-existent. This is also the case with Mihimè. Nevertheless, the scent is so beautiful, so incredibly good, that I overlook this exception.
Does Mihimè really smell like Nivea as everyone says? Yes! It smells like the white cream from the blue jar that we all remember from our childhood. It smells as creamy as I have never experienced with any other fragrance. Bright, white, soft, beautiful care cream! For me, it falls into the category of "care fragrances" and "feel-good fragrances." Absolutely top-notch!
But why can’t I share this scent with others, show it to them, or let them smell it? Unfortunately, that doesn’t work at all with Mecheri's Mihimè. It is discreet and stays very close to the wearer. Normally, I don’t wish for any chemistry in fragrances, but here it would be appropriate to make the dreamily beautiful scent a bit louder. So, Mihimè remains a pure private pleasure, a luxury just for one’s own nose.
What I and perhaps some Western noses might perceive as a drawback is, however, quite intentional in the Far Eastern cultural sphere. Scent clouds are considered a faux pas, an impolite, disrespectful disturbance of the surroundings. In my opinion, this fragrance must also submit to this sad dictate, and I can only hope that one day there will be an extreme variant, especially since Mecheri lives in the USA, where a large, perhaps even puritanically influenced, customer base demands fragrances that smell clean and well-groomed.
Due to its beauty, it definitely ranks among my top five care fragrances. My number one remains unchallenged: Madison Soirée by Bond No. 9.
Conclusion: Top fragrance for fine noses who like to feel comfortable in their own skin and don’t care about the effect of their scent on others. Luxury for one’s own nose.

Innocent
White, clean, creamy, soft, delicate, airy, all these descriptions come to mind when I don't want to bring up the well-known blue tin, but I have no choice - Mihime really does smell like Nivea cream. At least in the opening and in the floral heart note, this is quite clearly recognizable. I don't mean this in a derogatory way, even though I still have some bones to pick with the company B. Mihime simply reminds me of a gentle care fragrance.
As it develops, the white-blue impression on my skin noticeably weakens in favor of a pleasant powdery note. Now a dry, velvety base emerges that lasts surprisingly long. Despite the oak moss and patchouli, the impression remains remarkably bright, which is probably thanks to the soft and rather sweet vanilla.
Mihime would be a fragrance I could wear after a wonderfully relaxing bath, on an evening when I have nothing else planned. Just feeling good, content like a freshly wrapped baby.

Long searched, finally found!
Yes, here it is, the long-sought Nivea scent! I am so excited!!! The ultimate test or comparison is clear! On my left wrist, there are a few drops of Mihime, and on my right wrist, Nivea cream from the blue jar AND it smells exactly the same, only the Nivea cream quickly absorbs into the skin, and thus the scent disappears, while Mihime stays and beautifies my whole day. I can't help it and have to keep sniffing my wrist. Now that I finally know how Mihime smells (I had a tiny little sample flown in from America... tzzz, I really am crazy) and I am so enthusiastic, I dared to buy the whole bottle... Ouch! But what can you do when you have found it, the ultimate scent? I can't help it, it's too beautiful!!! Too beautiful!
I have to agree with Eternity, it could be a bit louder and make itself and its wearer noticeable, unfortunately, it doesn't really do that - you only smell it for yourself... unfortunately. Mihime is pure luxury, a feel-good scent, completely clean, cozy, and delicate, but so what? Why not treat yourself a little, gift yourself, money is just paper and it's Christmas too!!!!

Innocent, gentle baby comfort scent.
Creamy, clean, sweet, and delicate.
Unfortunately, it becomes a bit metallic over time.

Delicate, transparent Nivea scent. More like the smile of a Japanese schoolgirl than the rolling pin of a German housewife.

The opening is intense and unpleasant, very bitter. That's why we didn't become friends. The base leans towards Nivea.

The cherry blossom opening is too sharp for me, but it quickly calms down and becomes creamy-skin close.

Delicate, skin-close scent. Smells like Nivea, just a bit spicier. Creamy, clean, well-groomed.

Delicate cherry blossom cream. A scent like light yellow-pink chiffon, spring in a bottle. Not fleeting or too weak on me either.

Rose in milk cream - with a hint of vanilla and musk - close to the skin, velvety, discreet, I rave about its femininity!

If only it would smell twice as strong, last twice as long, and cost half as much... I would get Mihimé right away!

Like Lorenzo Villoresi's Iperborea: Nivea only hinted at. Synthetic, "watery" cream scent without any distinctiveness. What a shame.

Long-lasting "Nivea" like the Nivea EdT, a bit deeper, yet not interesting or precious, and no joy in wearing it.
