Fine and woody
Dear Ingrid has given me a rich gift of bottlings, including this one. Thank you so much for your generosity my dear.
Here are my impressions of this fragrance, so:
if you can get over the beginning of incense and pepper well, then it goes on fine.
Unfortunately, I have to say that this fragrance took my breath away at the beginning. So I put it down at first because I thought: "Oh no, it's probably not for me." But then, after the noise had died down, a subtle spiciness emerged that I just couldn't make out.
So I had to read up on what it could be and, what can I say: it's the vinegar rose or apothecary rose, at least that's what I think, because it doesn't really smell of rose here.
According to the internet description, it exudes an intense, sweet fragrance. Leaves, flowers, seeds and fruit are edible and it is on the red list of endangered plants. So much for the botanicals.
For me, the scent is not sweet at all, more balsamic, but it is more likely to come from the myrrh, which makes the scent really profound.
Yes oh yes, it has spicy depth and a warm, multi-layered flair characterizes this fragrance, which definitely has something vanilla and finely woody in the finish.
There is a bog oak in a park near us (in Bad Füssing) that is said to be 20,000 years old. When the wind is right, it smells just like this perfume smells at the end - vanilla-woody. Yes, there is such a thing.
I don't think such a fossil oak was dug up for this perfume, but the way it smells here is really phenomenal. And so is the longevity, because I was able to smell it for more than 10 hours.
