affordable and simple elegance for everyday use
Baldessarini Black is my flexible and affordable everyday and transitional fragrance, especially for casual activities. It's basically the scent for "in between," e.g. for shopping or other daily tasks. It is more suitable for milder or cooler seasons. It is absolutely rounded and professional without being intrusive, and it radiates calm, elegance, and self-confidence. However, for my taste, it lacks a bit of (resinous) depth for this type of fragrance. I feel that while it is rounded, it also remains somewhat flat, and it has a subtle kind of sweetness or powderiness that slightly reminds me of vanilla. The scent is very linear and does not develop, which is neither a positive nor a negative aspect. I find the leather in this composition well integrated.

Welcome to the Comeback....
Some scents are "strange," some mysterious, some soft - others rough. Some are bright - a few dark. And some come back. The one we're talking about here combines all of that in one bottle. In my opinion, it has an astonishing longevity - with small interruptions, which makes it both strange and indeed mysterious. These interruptions are so cleverly placed that one might be a bit disappointed to realize: "Is it already gone?" - only to happily retract that judgment a few minutes later;
To notice: "There it is again"!!-
And this comes back subtly altered from the "previous scent." This little game continues for several hours.
In one of the early phases, cool green-peppery "powders" start to work, sometimes almost velvety - at other times like sandpaper. After a while, dark smokes and balsams begin to develop, bright, almost citrus-rosy bursts create small dots.
Partly coarser "grained," then again fine like flour. Only at the very end, after the scent has tricked the nose several times with fading and strong comebacks, a fine, pleasant trace of leathery sweetness is added, giving the perfume its final touch. Then it slowly and quietly fades away.
Strange?!?--- But that's how my "olfactory bulb" feels about it ;-))

Those who wait for their expectations to be met often wait in vain. Kühn-Görg, Monika
How long have I waited for something to finally come along that deserves the beautifully sounding name Baldessarini.
The wait continues.
After the beautifully designed silver Eau de Cologne 18 years ago, there have only been childish or wannabe secret agent scents like Secret Mission or Strictly Private.
I have never worn a fragrance that wasn't private.
Likewise, the Ultimate or Ambre were modest products with a name that was actually glorious.
Here, the brand of the former designer of Hugo Boss has been driven to the cheap wall in every way.
It is astonishing how uninspired and disillusioning the scents from Baldessarini are, especially when compared to the new Tabac Craftsman, which has made the leap into the new decade just right.
The wait for better times for Baldessarini under Mäurer&Wirtz has not been fulfilled.

This Black is labeled as an eau de toilette but has a short-lasting power just like the cologne.
Completely incomprehensible when you see the extremely well-executed form of the product in this black color.
The ingredients, except for the myrrh, are hard to identify; it starts off robust and present, loses its strength after ten minutes, and transitions into a metoo scent that has already been found countless times from Dunhill, Jaguar, or Bentley.

Why can one read in the media how Mäurer&Wirtz wants to increase product visibility and attack other brands in a similar segment, only to be presented with such a bottle?

Absolutely incomprehensible and disappointing; in the corporate view of many companies, this is not unusual.
The top management has an entirely different perspective on its products than the end consumer perceives in the store.
This phenomenon exists or existed with many retailers in the retail sector who saw themselves as the ultimate authority and are no longer in existence today.

Thus, the Baldessarini brand currently appears so inadequate in the market, if one can even find the products on the shelves, as they are always hidden so deep in the bending zone to ensure they are not bought.

The Godfather!
Marlon Brando...the Godfather walks slowly and with his head held high through the garden of his summer house in Tuscany, surrounded by his bodyguards in leather jackets.

That's what I associate with this fragrance.

Herbaceous and spicy with a Mediterranean flair, that describes it best in my opinion. It conveys a certain self-assurance as if to say: "Nothing can throw me off course quickly, I've got everything under control...I’m the one in charge here."

A fragrance for the established man over 30...

The longevity for me is in the medium range; after 1.5 - 2 hours it does fade quite quickly, until after about 4-5 hours there’s only a faint trace left to sense up close...without a pocket spray, it’s a short pleasure.

Not so bad, actually - spicy-leathery, but unfortunately with a sweet, soft tonka base. I'm getting 1 million vibes... somehow...

The BEST Baldessarini, at least of those I've tested. The name BLACK is spot on - very spicy, slightly sweet - great!

Definitely the best/least sweet of all Baldessarini's. Totally underrated here. Very high quality and long-lasting - I don't want to be without it!

The bottle is really elegant and catches the eye right away. However, the spicy scent is rather unremarkable and fades relatively quickly.

Myrrh, pepper, and leather are the main players on my scent radar. Tonka, geranium, and basil expertly soften it. Perfect for occasions. Lovely!

Unlikely light dark scent of warmth, spice, and brown-black - served without gourmand airs. Pleasant surprise.

Rossi Aktion. Wanted to bring this for my husband. Nope, I'm keeping it for myself. I'm totally blown away. Deep - Tonka - Balsamic - Leathery. Ladies, go for it!

At first, it smells really nice like L'Insoumis by Lalique, then it gets darker, resinous, and herbaceous, masculine, quite okay!

Spicy dark woods & patchouli are embraced by fine myrrh. Resinous labdanum tempers the tonka sweetness. A subtle 24/7 go-to.
