The Clear Mind
With Timbre Chris has transferred a part of his studio series (wood/yuzu) into a fragrance. While the studio series focus mainly on experimenting with themes or combinations of chords, the fragrances are basically the end of an olfactory journey.
TMBR, as Chris wrote the name on the bottle, is meant to be more edgy - at the edge of wood-citrus compositions. And so it also starts very straight forward and clearly drawn in dry woods and contrasting, playful citrics.
The Yuzu, with all its wonderful fruit citric, between lime, mandarin and grapefruit is an ingenious antithesis to the dry woods. If a pencil-cedar note comes over at the beginning, the fragrance turns completely after a good hour and becomes very harmonious.
Because now the actual main actors take over: Galbanum and Vietnamese Oud. The wood radiates warmth and comfort now. It has slight nuances of resins. And is so pleasantly balanced that all the evoked edginess of the beginning seems forgotten.
The fragrance is absolutely balanced in itself and radiates with strength and an almost playful aura.
It's easy to forget that this is an Eau de Toilette, when it shines with the projection and durability of an Eau de Parfum.
Timbre is a scent of sun kissed wood, resins, garnished with a very minimal mineral-ozonic note in the drydown.
Now, I am looking forward to the Timbre EDP, which will be released at the end of autumn 2019.
