Milk Coffee and Cake
I have already had the opportunity to test several 'Scent of Departure' fragrances. These are a series of concept scents inspired by 20 cities around the world that Gérald Ghislain has traveled to.
On the website, you can read about the aromas and impressions he associates with the cities. 'VIE Vienna' begins, according to the text, with a walk through Vienna. On the paper strip, the bitter, green notes become more apparent, especially grasses and mint. After the excursion into the greenery, a baroque breakfast orgy takes place in the Belvedere palace garden, where a buffet with Viennese pastries and cakes is already waiting.
Sprayed on the wrist, 'VIE' appears much sweeter from the start than on paper - it smells creamy of vanilla and crème brûlée. Cakes and the finest pralines made of milk chocolate are also available at the buffet. Licorice and coffee have been mixed in in homeopathic doses somewhere. Perhaps a cup of milk coffee is also enjoyed - but there is no espresso. And the mint? It serves as a garnish. A portion of whipped cream is served with the cake, garnished with a single mint leaf. Woods and a clean patchouli note are also very far in the background; everything here revolves around sweetness. However, an indefinable green freshness is also perceptible until the end, tempering the sweetness and making 'Vienna' a - despite the indulgence - not too heavy gourmand candidate.
