What's new about this well-done floral from Sisley isn't the bright aldehydic, citrusy top or the amber, musk cedar base. It's the heart and its unusual rose accord from the Ornano rose cultivated in Isabelle d'Ornano's garden. Since her husband died, she heads the titled French family that co-created Lancôme, founded Sisley and charges us small fortunes for their lovely products. The Ornano rose blooms once a year for a short time and then its lemony, peary rosiness is gone. Angelica in the heart and pink pepper in the top underscore this is not your normal rose fragrance. It's fresh and interesting, combining the old and the new. It has good projection and longevity. This is the 4th Sisley fragrance I'll probably own. All are beautiful and reasonably affordable: Eu du Soir, a divine chypre created for Isabelle by her husband; Eau de Sisley 1, a citrusy green Jasmine for summer; and Eau de Tropicale, a refreshing fruity-floral. Izia may have been named after the French actress-rock singer Izia, who has been compared to Janis Joplin. I liked Joplin. I like Izia perfume, too.

Edit: I guessed wrong. Izia is a diminutive for Isabelle and how she signed her letters to her children.

The most beautiful rose in the garden.

I find the story behind the creation of this perfume charming, as one of its perfumers was inspired by the roses in the garden (France) of the co-founder of the Sisley brand. In fact, the name of the perfume is the diminutive of the name of the owner of said garden, Isabelle. It is apparently a slightly strange type of rose and its name is unknown.

At the exit it is perceived with a yellow tone, fresh and very bright, with a certain bitterness, contributed by the bergamot, also feeling small chords of chamomile, which is not included in its olfactory pyramid. Here I see a very young rose, fresh and silky.
The heart notes give way to a more attractive rose, but tender at the same time, also refreshed by notes of lemon, sweetened by a subtle veil of honey (which does not appear in the pyramid) and a delicate and powdery green of angelica, all it adorned with small jasmine petals.
The base notes show us a slightly more mature and formal rose, with a woody tone, but without losing its sweetness.
My perception of this wonderful perfume is as if it reflected the different stages of a woman: childhood, youth and maturity.
It is worth mentioning the bottle, which is a true work of art, both for its design and its colour. Vista al sol is a beauty.
I see it as suitable for any time of the year, although in the cold months its longevity is less.
When to use it? whenever you want, because it's delicious.

Freshness in a Bottle

Izia is like a rose that just stepped out of a refreshing shower.

It smells clean, with a touch of fancy soap and a burst of citrus that sparkles like lemonade in the sun. Right from the start, it’s bright and zesty; lemon, bergamot, a fizzy kick that instantly lifts your mood. Then the rose takes over, light, airy, almost sheer, floating on a soft cloud of white musk.

It’s fresh, soft, and effortlessly pleasant. The kind of scent that makes you feel like you just stepped out of the bath, clean, crisp, and perfectly put together.

Cute, easy to wear, and just right for sunny days!

Love the body lotion, not the perfume.

When I first tried the perfume, I thought it was cute, but I wasn`t impressed enough to buy it or want to smell it again. Probably seeing the disappointment on my face, the Sisley counter lady gave me a sample of the Izia body lotion and a pamphlet with prices. When I opened the pamphlet, I laughed: the body lotion, although half the size of the perfume, was way more expensive. Okay... But when I tried it after a hot soak in the tub, I could understand that price difference; Izia is a lovely fresh rose with cedar and a sprinkle of pepper that gently starts to bloom on your skin as it sinks into your pores. In summer, it projects as well as a perfume. In winter, I love to apply it to my shoulders and arms and back of the knees: the scent slowly seeps into my cashmere sweaters and pants and it`s the loveliest, most comforting aroma that an intimate lover can pick up when he embraces you.

Love it so much

Rarely do I fall in love with a perfume, but it happened with Izia. I love how it works with my body chemistry, resulting in a beautiful jasmine/rose/amber. I’m buying a large bottle ASAP, as I only have 8 ml and that’s not going to last very long.
Good sillage and longevity.
