Get the tannins out of the latrine, Tine! (ancient Greek proverb)
Plant tannins (so-called tannins) have been used for centuries not only in perfumes, but also in medicine, a variety of healing effects have been proven.
Tannins are further, by perfumers and physicians quasi purely accidentally discovered, as a taste component of wine and tea known.

Briefly on the chem. Formula, it is like this, tannins combine with proteins on contact, which changes their properties:
The water bound in the proteins is displaced by the tannins. Who doesn't know this:
Some tannins form very stable colour complexes with metal salts, mainly iron salts, which used to be used to make writing ink. The fact that ink did not succeed in the market in the long term has something to do with digitization, but also the production discontinuation of the ink killer. (complex topic)

What is still important to know: the chemical detection of tannins succeeds with the vanillin HCl reaction (red coloration) and vanillin was invented in my home country, I'm just saying.

What do we smell here now?
Black tea/ East Frisian tea, brings tannins with it, in abundance, and is complemented by reds, Bordeaux-typical aromas like cassis and black cherry, seasoned with allspice (pepper) and thyme. Delicious!

No substitute
My favourite colleague is a native of Austria and a graduate of a home economics school there, masterly baking is powerful. Undoubtedly also cooking, but in an office this does not come naturally to the fore. I know from her that Sacher cake is prepared with apricot jam (she still likes to say "pancakes", "apricots" etc. after decades in Germany). Period. The occasionally used fruit substitutes may produce great cakes - just no Sachertorte.

In fact, my short-after-first idea for 'Bohemia' was that after the application Sachertorte would rise from a rough base. As "officially" (see above) correctly I lie, I determine only later (see below). Not sweet at all, the cake. Especially since she is not alone: I imagine a touch of floral green, similar to the green fortune of tuberose as in Naomi Goodsir's 'Nuit de Bakélite'. Quite bitter, which now in turn is oblique for purposes of a cake.

And as if the scent had heard me, it makes the chocolate impression disappear insulted and instead smears me with honey. Soon a fruity-scratchy mixture tickles me, which in the course of the morning increasingly reminds me of dried fruit. Et voilà! Apricot is called and smells good.

A rather strange intermezzo in the context is offered by the listed Amber, of which I willingly and greedily perceive an almost imperceptible touch of the sugary dark variant after about three hours. How such things go in "louder" in the scent of nature was shown by 'Nethermead' of alchemology - today it remains a quiet breeze and we return to the subject as it were.

I'm afraid so. Because from lunch onwards, cocoa-like chocolate aspects can hardly be imagined, that's how quiet 'Bohemia' has become. The olfactory picture of an aged chocolate fruit cake is flanked by the still present impression of dry fruit. Perhaps the forgotten piece that shrinks in the display on Monday morning, lonely, old-fashioned and musty. It has accepted the smell of its plastic container as well.

Unfortunately no. 2: In the evening, a kind of wax emerges with an almost animal note, slightly salty-sour, close to the pee-pee. I wonder if this is some kind of natural scent musk game Mr. Bedel from Fueguia 1833 claims that his fragrances contain up to a dozen varieties at a time, so a bit of speculation seems to be permissible. But no matter, in any case the late escape attempt does not fit at all to the previous event and seems - although not un-original for itself - misplaced here.

I thank Naimie54 for the rehearsal.
