How helpful a little "devotion" is!
A certain proximity of 'Devotion' to the sibling fragrance 'Bohemia' cannot be denied, as has already been diagnosed. But I like today's candidate much better than his musty chocolate-fruit-cake-brother.
A touch of brown sugar leads over to deep dark amber, which is close to the one from Agonists 'Black Amber' (which really means something), or - to stay in the natural scent genre - to 'Nethermead' of alchemology (which is also a fine thing in this respect). The amber part in 'Bohemia' had been limited to a timidly performed and ultimately misplaced supporting role.
Cloves and scratchy, almost leathery rose geranium do not merely accompany, but stretch the rough hands self-confidently. Let's see the grippers calmly, after all they are freshly washed! A well noticeable soapiness, which undoubtedly goes back to the second mentioned, lasts a few hours.
Of course, the proportion is dwindling, because the theme of the fragrance is different. This is evidenced by candied, dark-sweet-sour orange, which really feels at home in the ambered surroundings. The matching complement is a drinkable, fruity-floral liqueur of the kind that Rose sometimes gives off. I'm also guessing a nuance of lush jasmines.
The afternoon offers less youth-endangering pleasure. On the one hand chocolate and vanilla are present and deliver a beautiful dessert, on the other hand the sugary sweetness and the now prisenhafter clove add seasonally correctly to sweetened Christmas tea.
Conclusion: Gourmands are not my construction site, but in this case the gradual withdrawal of the rose geranium soap has done the scent good. Nevertheless, their contribution must not be absent, looking back it increases the anticipation. As mentioned above, 'Devotion' reminds partially of 'Bohemia' from the same house, is only finer woven and more consistent, more conclusive and more durable.
I thank Naimie54 for the sample.
PS: If you're a gourmand, then you'd prefer a natural scent - at least there's no risk of poisoning if you lick your hand accidentally.
