Parfumerie Particulière / Black Tar
Well ... I don't know if the name was meant to refer to heroin, because in common parlance black tar is a black tar version of heroin. More on this type of opioid drug later. Let's focus on the smell.

PART 1
Personally, I perceive this smell as strangely narcotic - I like it and want to smell it and it makes me want to look for similarities and find notes ... some I found, some I guessed, some - I have no idea.
Certainly there are notes of juniper, wood, a strange perception of the artificial smell of rubber (including a light smoke of burnt rubber, maybe patchouli combined with synthetics - I don't know) and tuberose in the background. It is great here and in my opinion it is the backbone of this perfume, but the skeleton is very subdued - it stays in the background all the time. The addition of this note, in my opinion, breaks the dark undertone of the whole fragrance, adding a hint of 'feminine element', including narcoticism, mystery, light veiled sweetness and strange metallicity.
I have had a deep impression of this perfume from the moment I got to know it and knew that I would like to have it. Aha- durability at a good level, as well as intensity. The fragrance attracted attention and curiosity - 'what is it?'

PART 2
Black Tar is black tar heroin - a specific type of heroin.
It looks much different than the regular powdered form which is usually white or brown in color. All forms of heroin are derived from morphine, a powerful opioid pain reliever. Black tar heroin is a dark, rock-like form of heroin. It is easy to distinguish heroin in powder form from black tar, even for the untrained eye, as black tar takes its name from its similarity to roofing tar and is produced after the refining process step.
Black Tar is often produced in Mexico and sold in areas west of the Mississippi River. Some South American and Asian countries are also known for their exports. Due to the large supply of Mexican black tar, heroin is common in the western United States, such as Los Angeles.
Like using powdered heroin, black tar use can lead to serious physical and psychological problems, including substance use disorders.
People who use black tar heroin usually smoke or inject it after the drug has been dissolved and diluted. In most cases, it is injected into the veins, muscles, or under the skin. But it can be heated on foil over an open fire and inhaled through a straw or similar device. Black Tar can also be mixed with hot water and sprayed into the nose.

PART 3
Description from the website translated:
'MEXICO, hours. 22:00 / EXT: NIGHT
The smell of danger on every street corner reminds us that nobody is the master of their emotions.

Follow the asphalt, Iztapalapa, dead end. And a beautiful and mysterious woman, forbidden lust ...

In a whispered roar, he utters the words: Black tar.
Poisons come in many forms, but these can remain even as they turn pale and paler. '

Whether the smell was supposed to resemble the smell of this form of stimulant - I do not know. But I know that I like it narcotic.

Black Tar is Art in a bottle
Some fragrances have a unique way of lingering in your memory, and no matter how long it takes, they eventually find their way into your collection. Black Tar by Parfumerie Particulière is one of those perfumes. I first acquired a sample in July 2023 and, over time, found myself repeatedly testing and revisiting it. Initially, I was unsure if it was worth adding to my collection, but the more I wore it, the more it started to captivate me. Black Tar reveals a new facet with each wear, slowly unfurling its complexity and charm.

The name "Black Tar" may raise some eyebrows, as it evokes images of something dark and intense, potentially even dangerous. While the term might suggest a narcotic, the only "addiction" this fragrance offers is its infinite layers, constantly evolving and surprising with each wear. For a scent with such bold, heavy notes—like smoky tar—Black Tar is surprisingly gentle. Though powerful, it never feels overwhelming. In fact, I was even tempted to wear it during the summer. Initially, the smoke was a bit intense, but as it settled, the floral notes began to emerge, making the fragrance feel lighter and more balanced.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Black Tar is how it handles tuberose. For those who find this note difficult to wear, Black Tar presents a more restrained, calming version of it, allowing its beauty to shine without overwhelming the wearer. The faint presence of tuberose lingers in the background, perfectly complementing the other notes.

The perfumers behind Black Tar—Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel—are the same talented duo responsible for the exquisite fragrances Talento and Let Mat by Mendittorosa. Their craftsmanship is evident in Black Tar, which I can only describe as a masterpiece.

If you’ve been following this year’s Pitti in Florence, you may have noticed that Parfumerie Particulière re-launched their collection in transparent bottles, adding two new fragrances while surprisingly discontinuing Black Tar. It’s unclear why this fragrance was removed from the line, but I am grateful to have secured what may very well be one of the last bottles available, thanks to Nose Paris Boutique.

The composition of Black Tar includes notes of concrete, cade essence, tuberose from India, gaiac wood, and vetiver. Remarkably, I can pick up every single note, whether it’s a distant waft or up close to my skin. The fragrance is said to evoke the essence of Mexico at 10:00 PM, with the box bearing the phrase, "Poisons have many faces. But as fast as they disappear, they linger." In the context of the fragrance, this sentiment makes perfect sense. Black Tar lingers for over 12 hours, leaving a trail of its presence without being overpowering. While not exactly "beast mode," the scent is enduring and thoroughly enjoyable throughout the day.

Owning Black Tar feels like possessing a truly exceptional work of art. It’s unlike anything else in my collection, and I’m thrilled to have it in my possession. I sincerely hope Parfumerie Particulière considers re-releasing this fragrance in the future. Some perfumes take time to be fully appreciated, and Black Tar is a prime example. Once you’ve experienced its full depth, you realize you’ve discovered a fragrance that’s worth its weight in gold. Simply put, it’s art in a bottle.

In the Rapture of the Street
I must have somehow gotten under this tar machine. The black mass flows heavily, enveloping me, rough and heavy, the tar sweats plumes of gray warm smoke, just a moment ago I was lying here in a clearing in the woods. Now everything is asphalt and ash, in the rapture of the street I drift in the tar, sluggishly sinking deeper, until I think I notice a clove that still defies the smoldering muck and occasionally a few notes of leather as my jacket disintegrates.
Then I believe my head is beneath the asphalt, as the smoldering seems to let nature, the flowers, trees, and grasses shine fruitily bright in the tar, as if the concrete brings them forth, tuberose, cedar, and vetiver. With my arms laid against my body, the asphalt slowly pushes me forward, hour by hour merging a few centimeters with remnants of the forest. After a while, there is guaiac wood, the skull splits the trunk into splinters, charred milk swims in the blaze of the concrete, red glowing poor smoking knights.
Hours later, the hub seems reached, grasses sharpen the smoke glowing green, before the undertone becomes warmer and softer, as mosses burn to a crisp. Now I dream of tuberoses emerging from ash and amber woods, enchanting flowers with sweet vanilla wood cream like incense sticks, blending with patchouli, blurring the rapture of the street into memory.
**
Black Tar is a smoker with an unusual development. What Frau Holle has already hinted at in her comment, namely that all these natural scents resonate in this initial wall of tar, is a varied shifting from spicy-leathery to resinous-fruity, burnt milk, green-mossy, and finally floral-woody upon closer sniffing. All of this is refracted through the lens of the smoky tar, creating the scent impressions described above in the text. By the way, smoked ham is never a fitting association for me. Black Tar lasts about six to eight hours, projects moderately to skin close, and is never intrusive even at warmer temperatures, rather refreshingly grainy than tar-like and gluing. It is definitely special among smoky fragrances.

Solar Eclipse
Silence. There is an extraordinary atmosphere in the air. It crackles! Like a black ribbon of tar, the shadow path slowly moves into our field of vision as the moon progressively covers the sun more and more.
The birds fall silent, the flowers close their cups, and the light refracts magically and mysteriously on the horizon. A surreal world opens up, strange and fascinating at the same time...

What a monumental event! There is probably nothing comparable and no event that triggers a "cold shiver down my spine" quite like the cosmic spectacle of a total solar eclipse. Graceful and majestic! Those who were able to witness the total darkness at the end of the last millennium can surely follow my thoughts.
It is August 11, 1999, and I find myself in Hungary at the Solipse Festival. The festival grounds are precisely on the narrow strip of total solar eclipse, and we have a cloudless sky - a clear view of the upcoming spectacle...

Black Tar is now one of those impressive olfactory creations that can be compared to the force and sustainability of a Full Solar Eclipse.
From the very first moment, when the scent receptors are touched by the molecules, the deep black, smoky-tarry structure becomes apparent. Unconditionally and inexorably, the direction is explained. An intensely spicy, yet also dry sandy aura darkens the horizon, just as the moon continuously moves in front of the sun during the eclipse.
Accompanying this is a medically antiseptic undertone. A slightly bitter facet flanks the perception, similar to the scent in, for example, an old pharmacy. The previously mentioned reference to ointments fits very well here. Combined with juniper, this combination creates an extremely successful opening. Fantastic!

As the scent unfolds like a cloak, this beautiful, slightly sweet projection comes into play. Enchantingly floral and honey-like, latent and completely hidden, the tuberose joins the spectacle. The moment of complete darkness arises...
A small halo of light remains - the corona. While it fits the current events, it represents, olfactorily speaking, sweet and woody warmth in this case.

Black Tar truly feels like a solar eclipse to me...

Mysterious and magical
dark and gloomy
filled with light and radiant

In my opinion, the wearability is excellent. BT never comes across as intrusive or bothersome, and although its ingredients are of a stronger nature, it always generates a pleasant aura and sillage. I find the longevity remarkable, and even hours later, the scent is still quite perceptible.
For me, Black Tar is another milestone on my olfactory journey of discovery. I can only recommend this scent to anyone who has access to such fragrance directions.
Last but not least, the bottle is a feast for the eyes, and I think the symbol of a solar eclipse would suit it very well...

I look behind the center,
Into the shadows of your past,
Thus I recognize light, dazzling light,
Which conquers the darkness...

I dedicate these lines and this comment to my oldest son. He turns 14 today!
Happy birthday my big one, and may the sun always shine for you...

Thank you for reading and stay loyal to me

ABSOLUTELY LAYER!
So, or something like that, thinks not only Parfumerie Practiculär, but surely also the road construction companies, that forests, fields, and meadows should have no place in this our land, and must be layered with whatever they have on hand: tar, tar, tar!

What’s the point? Flower meadows. Childish! They smell way too good and only create stress with all the bees; beekeepers can’t keep up with buying pipe tobacco. TAR!

Coniferous forests! They just poke! They look pretty, but all that resin everywhere, you can’t get it off your soles and clothes, and they poke really badly, I already said that. TAR!

Wood. We all know how dangerous driving between trees can be. It’s mega-stressful to pay attention to every single trunk when you’re speeding at 220: TAR!

And yet, this tar quiver seems to have stuffed all this biomass inside it (why is "stuffed" not highlighted in red) ((highlighted in red is "highlighted in red")) well,

anyway, this is the best natural eco-tar there is.

Strong, but medical scent. It leaves a thin brown layer on your skin! Very deep scent with a more medical turn on my skin. Difficult.

Initially pungent and (rubbery) synthetic-spicy, this smoky floral-leathery fragrance settles to a gentle earthy-woody base. Challenging!
