Good With Influenza!
Unfortunately, I am having a cold today. Like every year, influenza becomes epidemic towards the end of winter, and of course, it got me. Generally, not a good day for most of my perfumes.

However, true perfume enthusiasts will not abstain from wearing fragrance just because of a running nose! It is not a matter of do or don't, the only question is: which fragrance fits best? My choice is Patyka's Boisé. Patyka is a French cosmetic brand, and at least when they launched their little perfume series, they were deep into natural cosmetics, with organic ingredients and no animal testing. I guess, their Boisé is all healthy and natural – at least this is how it smells like!

Indeed, there is some woodiness in Boisé, but maybe not enough to justify this name. Boisé is very much determined by a coniferous note enhanced with something minty or campherous. Without being sharp it creeps up one's nostrils and apparently does a good job in the sinuses. It really can ease your day a little and though it was never intended as a remedy against a cold or a hangover, the first is the only use I make of it. Coniferous notes can be so soothing! They make me think of deep, dark forests in summertime, with a light breeze running through the trees and causing that magical murmuring. Remembering this sound helps a lot to calm down and get the rest that the body needs. With Patyka's Boisé you can make the best of any influenza.

I have to admit, Patyka's Boisé is a bit bland. There is no pyramid, it is just a very solid fragrance with almost no development. The use I found for this perfume does not allow to compare it with other fragrances. Probably, many people would have put it back onto the shelf as soon as they realised any cough syrup relations.

Patyka's perfumes apparently weren't very successful. With very limited availability in the shops, the perfume series wasn't continued after the first batches were sold. I regret I only bought a 15 ml flacon, and so I will have to look for a new influenza perfume soon.

A masculine woody scent
This is a masculine scent. Ingredients: grapefruit, pine, virginia cedar and oakmoss. It lasts long on the skin. It's minimalistic (but not simple), round and very dry. It is not noted as an ingedient, but it seems like I smell whiffs of mint or at least the freshness is mint (maybe the oakmoss?). This scent is definitely about the wood. This is in my opinion not really unisex, but more for men (or a butch woman).

Regarding risks and side effects, please consult.....
I also have medical associations with this scent. However, they are limited for me to external application. Boisé reminds me of a strong rub for muscle soreness, calf cramps, and lumbago. I can also imagine the scent as a room fragrance for the scent lamp against the cold smoke on the morning after a party or as a bath additive. As a perfume for me? Certainly not, I also miss sophistication and elegance for men. Nevertheless, Boisé smells really good, but not as a daytime fragrance, rather as a therapeutic remedy.

If I were to receive this scent as a gift, I would try to give a banal, fruity-floral everyday perfume more stability and volume with it.

Those expecting a pine resin scent might be disappointed, but they'll get an ethereal light green, freshly cut wood scent: lovely!

Once the initially ethereal-medical note fades, it becomes a beautiful fresh juicy light green conifer scent. I like it.

For me, as a self-proclaimed woodworm, it's a delight. A complete conifer in a bottle. Spicy, resinous, woody, and slightly earthy.
