Heno de Pravia Perfumería Gal

Well, the original bottle is really not inviting (looks like dish soap), but I asked MissKatie for a sample because I was interested in the content.

And dear Katja, in her endless kindness, generosity, and friendliness, filled me a full 50 ml bottle in a beautiful, square, modern flacon (looks great, my dear :-) ).

And the scent is, how should I put it, simply wonderfully fresh and light, with initially friendly lavender tones. No worries, even if you're not a fan of lavender, this one is by no means annoying, but really pleasantly subtle, unfortunately also very fleeting, but it makes way for a more fougere-like odor that is also not to be underestimated.

Actually, it is an aromatic, slightly herbaceous green scent.
Ha, green scent you might think, of course, she has to write that (as a green fan).

Yes, that's true, but that's not all there is to it; something else comes into play that I can't quite name - supposedly they wanted to recreate a hay scent. - Somehow they succeeded, although the grass hasn't fully turned into hay yet; it still lies somewhere in between, so it's not freshly cut but also not completely dried grass/hay. It's not soapy green; it's more lavender green, but I can't really describe it. It could be that the mossy, woody notes are sneaking in there.

A very fitting scent for the current temperatures; we've had 30 to 32° since Sunday. So I can spray generously, as the longevity is very minimal.

For me, it is a wonderful refresher, and I sincerely thank MissKatie for the more than generous gift.

P.S. - I am a sheep! - HENO means hay. I could have known that beforehand. Tz, tz, tz.

Surely my review is somewhat biased by the name, origin, age, and the listed notes, but for me, this fragrance creates such a beautiful overall impression that I want to share it with others.

When I spray it on, I see myself in a large bathroom of a beautiful apartment by the sea in Spain. Cool, light tiles under my bare feet, the windows slightly shaded.
Happy to finally wash my hands and arms with cool water after a day outside in the heat.
I gratefully accept the small soap at the sink, and it immediately exudes such a wonderful scent.

Without heaviness and with such a beautiful, subtle spiciness with a few floral veils and here, however, delicate notes of lavender. For those who are very sensitive (like me), there would even be a minimal(!) sweetness to note, which I see more as a "completion" here. The scent itself is not sweet at all.

Without the citrus that I usually prefer, I find this fragrance to be wonderfully refreshing, yet soft and without some of the harsh edges that lavender can often bring out.
The mentioned "hay" is certainly present here, but also subtle and like "freshly mown." I perceive it only as a rounding note, not in the foreground.

This scent, to return to the apartment, also feels like it awaits me in the freshly made bed with lightly linen-covered sheets and the old wooden cabinets standing in the tiled bedroom.

A thoroughly successful fragrance, of which I really cannot believe (had I not done it myself) that one must pay under 10 euros for ONE LITER. Incredible! Okay, the cleaning product bottle certainly does not invite purchase, but the content is truly a great summer scent that will definitely accompany me this year.
I naturally bought the shower gel and the soap as well... cough.

I am not a true connoisseur of fragrance notes and will never hold that expectation of myself, as I have been mistaken too often due to various DuPy's, but anyone who enjoys summer freshness without citrus and unsweetened lavender won't go wrong here... especially not at this price.

There are things one would never have discovered without Parfumo. The import and (never regretted) use of this wonderfully light, unobtrusive, and naturally appearing cologne certainly belong to that category. Firstly, one would probably never have come across this water without Parfumo. Even if one had happened to stumble upon it in a store in Spain, its monstrous container (a 780ML slim plastic bottle in a cleaning milk style) would have warranted not a single glance, let alone a desire to possess it.

But now there is Parfumo. And now one finds oneself reading around. And discovers things suggested by knowledgeable noses and writing artists. One loses inhibitions. Once the first order from Spain has been successful and the contents did not disappoint, the second one comes much easier. After bringing home a liter bottle of classic Spanish light waters for the first time - for me it was the wonderful ‘Agua Lavanda’ by Puig, additionally recommended by a hint overheard elsewhere that this was Frank Sinatra's favorite perfume… - and once one has taken care of refill bottles, the second step in this direction (for me it was: Varon Dandy, a liter glass bottle of a strongly spiced classic brew) almost follows naturally.

Heno de Parvia was the third monster bottle to join my collection - and its contents are currently used even more often than the highly regarded Agua Lavanda. The two are indeed quite similar. Both are dominated by a herbal, fresh-herbaceous, yet not too sharp or even bitter lavender. Heno de Parvia offers, in line with its name (‘Hay from Parvia’ - a town in northern Spain's Asturias), a light, mildly spicy hay note. This, alongside the lavender, likely points to the unspecified wood and moss aromas of the soon-to-follow cologne base. Yet this base remains bright and summery.

Especially delightful is this light water, produced since 1905 by Perfumería Gal (which was taken over by Puig in 1995), which after the brief, alcohol-fresh lavender opening, features a very subtle, elegant or urban rose nuance (rose geranium) that gently accompanies the lavender from the heart note. This composition, which one might hardly believe given the ridiculous price, comes across as quite natural; at least in my nose, it is by no means synthetic or cheap.

The whole thing is only very weakly, almost watery concentrated. Thus, sillage and longevity remain very limited. After a moderately projecting 10-minute opening, 2-3 hours of skin-close scent veils survive, cologne-wise. I very much enjoy using the Heno de Parvia Cologne, sprayed fairly generously on arms and chest before sports. It gives the steaming body a subtle, naturally appearing scent veil, which seems more elegant than any aquatic and guarantees a pleasant, lavender freshness.

Spanish light waters certainly belong to the future in light of climate change, as some far-sighted Parfumo pioneers have recently recognized. But even climate change deniers can be assured: the menopause is coming, one way or another. And for that, refreshing colognes serve better than heavy perfumes or sillage monsters. By the way, Agua Lavanda, since it contains 71% alcohol, has the potential added benefit that it can be used as a disinfectant (refilled in the shopping backpack and in the car). This is likely not as reliably virucidal with the 64% alcohol of Heno de Parvia.

Anyone who can still get this fine cooling scent water in the more presentable glass bottle should consider themselves lucky. Otherwise, one can console oneself about the monster plastic splash bottle with the note that plastic bottles, due to their lower weight, are said to be more environmentally friendly than glass after about 400 kilometers of delivery distance. I now refill these giant containers into repurposed 75ML glass deodorant bottles with screw spray heads. And I spend the few free minutes that Parfumo life occasionally leaves me contemplating the design of beautiful DIY labels for the growing collection of pretty cylindrical, repurposed 75ML spray bottles.

With its herb-fresh lavender dominance and only minimal rose note over hay or moss, this cologne can be used by people of all genders and ages. With its subtle sillage, it should never disturb anyone, anywhere, at any time. I find it performs invaluable services in heat.
