Karsten Janca
“Janca” gives the Osmanthus a lot of liquid and moisture - making it more pliable and sensitive…
The good old Tuberose, a love-hate relationship connects us. I feel similarly about the Osmanthus. Sometimes too cloying, heavy, and oppressive. But at other times, it is also pleasurable, fleshy, and interesting. “Janca” brings this sexy flower back down to the innocent ground of reality. Close to a pond with clover, little frogs, and a fresh breeze. Maybe a few carnivorous plants at the edge. But they are full and dull. Slim, slender, no bench. A powdery Tuberose clearing. Peach gummy bears. In light and green. Sloppy, lanky, clacky. Clearly leaning feminine. Here, the Tuberose shows almost no masculinity or sweat. A bit fluffy, a bit lazy. It feels more Spanish than Italian to me. Forest-and-meadow breezes. Never makes a fuss.
Bottle: doesn’t knock anyone off their feet
Sillage: no powdery tease
Longevity: 5-6 hours, less in the heat
Conclusion: Tuberose + Powder = Powderose?! Osmanthus flow?! “Janca” is lovely, commendable, and doesn’t really do anything wrong. A beginner’s white flower.
