Chewed-out Chewing Gum
It was in 2012 that I first became aware of "Mint Woman" by Toni Gard. I liked that scent, nothing exceptional, but not a bad scent either. We can hope. A male counterpart, and maybe not a bad scent. Well, sometimes hopes are sadly let down.

Soon after Easter, testers were made available and I gave "Mint Man" a try. The bottle is a simple glass square with a sturdy base, has a solid silver top and is filled with a greenish/silvery shimmering liquid. Add to this a poster-type blue print of the word "MINT". The carton is equally kept simple and clean. I like that already quite well, not very resourceful, but straightforward.

The sniffing part, I am sorry to say, turned out to be a short-lived pleasure. At the beginning, no doubt, there is a subtle mint note. Not spearmint gum, not toothpaste, not catnip and certainly not the type of aromatic peppermint tea from Maghrib. At the same time, some fruity sweetness joins in, I can make out tangerine and peach. Then there is a floral note like lily-of-the-valley, but a bit artificial. Spicy and oriental notes round out the fragrance at the base. Helas, I cannot point out any specific components, not that I did not try.

The fragrance offers neither highs nor lows, nor are there any surprises. The mint is just plain boring and begins to fade after one hour. Those fruity notes combined with fresh flowery notes have also been sniffed by me many times before, and mostly artificial just as often. The basenotes are unremarkable and difficult to identify, I don't even venture to name patchouli or sandalwood. Pity, the whole thing is flat. Sillage is rather weak and longevity is average with barely four hours. A poor testimony to "mint" when I can barely smell that particular note after one hour.

A run-of-the-mill fragrance, uninteresting like a piece of chewed-out chewing gum. At least it does not stick to the sole of my shoe forever.

Not a superhero, this Mint Man...
Well, the namesake mint really holds back here. Instead, Mint Man offers a solid sporty scent. Individual fragrance notes are not really recognizable, it comes across as quite synthetic, but - one has to admit - not unpleasant, rather the opposite.

All in all, an unspectacular sport fragrance - there are surely thousands that are worse, but also many that are better.

By the way, I find the striped bottle quite amusing.

Addendum: After somehow finding myself involuntarily without an alternative, I used Mint Man for a few days in a row and was quite surprised at how well it wears. It smells good, is fresh, modern - thumbs up!

Pure PR Product
"Mint" is one of those interchangeable, uninspired, already-seen-a-thousand-times "Cool Water" sport fragrances that have absolutely nothing to do with bringing a new idea or a new scent to the market. No, I see this more as a new product with an accompanying advertising campaign that aims to sell as much as possible with as little effort as possible. With the bottle, as "modest" as it may look, they most likely spent more time on it than on its contents. For the price, I honestly find that almost cheeky. By the way, it has nothing to do with mint at all.

Unfortunately not unique and refreshing
This sample arrived wrapped in a mint-green foil. In ultra-large letters, it says MINT, small TONI GARD, and even smaller MAN. Everything else is printed in a pastel-colored font similar to the packaging.
At first glance, Smint Mint immediately came to my mind, those little pastilles for ultra-fresh breath.
Accordingly, I expected something mint-fresh that then drifts into woody or spicy notes.
Now, the beginning is very synthetic but slightly refreshing, almost aquatic; after a few minutes, a slightly musty light spice develops, which I cannot describe.
Everything feels very cheap, synthetic, and unharmonious.
Sillage and longevity are, (thankfully in this case, relatively poor) which makes the whole thing more bearable.
I don't think the market needs something like this; please show a bit more creativity in the future, there could have been more in this theme.

Green Fougère
I have the body lotion of this fragrance and assume it smells just like the Eau de Toilette. Probably just lasts longer.
A minty note reminds me of Wrigley’s Spearmint gum, initially strong, later fresh and green. Similar to lemon balm fresh from the garden. A floral, also slightly green note comes in. Then the scent becomes more robust and woody. I can also clearly recognize lavender. Spices as well (coriander, cardamom?) quite strong even. What now reminds me of Fougère is the blend of fresh-lavender, woody-spicy, and mossy. The cream definitely has all of that. It also lasts quite a while and is clearly noticeable. I can easily imagine it as a "base" for a Fougère-like "liquid scent." A solid "cross-garden scent," nothing spectacular, a summer companion for those who love herbal and fern-like fragrances!

Not a conqueror of worlds, but a relatively unique scent thanks to the strongly noticeable mint. In M.'s opinion, unfairly rated too low.

The mint was supposed to come off fresh, but it somehow smells synthetic and musty.

I kind of like the scent... it reminds me of my youth and that's why it's special :-)

Musty, synthetic mint with a few flowers. H/S not present. Well, you can leave it in the car for summer or something.
