A confusing fragrance progression
Huh... I find it difficult to categorize this fragrance.
I liked the black "Rave Now" with its potent pineapple and nice creamy drydown. The synthetics in the black Rave Now were also limited for my nose.
Rave Now Intense is a completely different story. The fragrances are not even remotely similar, as can be deduced from the fragrance pyramid. However, I find the synthetics at the beginning of this fragrance quite strong.
The top notes are cucumber, tangerine and watermelon. Anyone expecting a watery-fresh opening like Nautica's Voyage will be hit on the nose first.
For me, the opening of the fragrance is not aquatic, blue or citrusy at all, but rather fresh and spicy in a pungent way. I can't detect anything citrusy. I can only briefly detect a very synthetic cucumber note and a faint hint of watermelon, which is overlaid by indefinable spicy notes. It could be sage, which then takes over in the heart note, but leaves its first pungent impression in the top note. The opening definitely comes across as medicinal and synthetic to me.
Then the aforementioned sage and a light basil note emerge very quickly. Here, too, the whole thing does not come across as pleasing or rounded. The sage hits the olfactory bulb in an unpleasantly pungent way and is then accompanied by something dark and sweet, which could actually be praline, as DiCaprio noted in his statement. Here, the fragrance is very remotely reminiscent of Haltane by Parfums de Marly.
The fragrance progression is quite confusing for me. This is because the fragrance actually becomes subtly fresh and blue paired with something green and spicy as it moves into the base note. The fragrance is much more pleasing in this phase than at the beginning. The woody notes take over at the end and allow a hint of blue freshness and green-aromatic notes to ride the wave until the fragrance fades away. I only get a hint of leather when I stick my nose to the sprayed area.
I find the performance below average. The sillage is very modest throughout and the longevity is about 4 hours for me. I understand "Intense" to mean something else...
I personally don't like the bottles in the Rave Now range. They are quite clunky and don't feel particularly high-quality. The spray head also works more poorly than well. What speaks in favor of this fragrance is the price: you can usually get 100ml for less than 20 bucks. That is already very reasonable.
To summarize, Rave Now Intense is an inexpensive fragrance with an interesting scent progression, but you have to get over the pungent synthetic top and heart notes first. After that, the base note is a nice but unremarkable fragrance. The performance is modest. For me, the area of application would be spring/autumn or on cooler summer days during leisure time. I wouldn't wear it in the heat or for sport.
One final comment on the similarity: LNDH Bleu Electrique is listed among the suggestions. I can attest to zero (zero, nil, cero, nul, nolla) similarity between these two fragrances, but noses are different.
