O? Why not S or B...
To criticize a Roja Dove is almost like a sacrilege, but this fragrance simply invites you to do so. Today, 23.07.2020, it is rated with 8.4 / 10 points and it will surely find its fans. So a warning in advance: Whether the 8.4 is justified or not is a matter of taste. But the value is to be seen purely statistically, namely: few people can afford an RD or ever look into a niche perfumery. Not everyone has access to Roja Dove, and if they do, the number of people who can smell the O will be smaller. And of those... well, you can see where I'm going. Count Zahl sends his regards!
It is already "special" for the normalos and the enthusiast nose. If you look at the pyramid, it sounds really promising: beautiful fine woods, wonderfully introduced by floral and fruity notes. What reads really great in theory is practically more like the job description at Bauer sucht Frau. Imagine a big stable, enter the honorable vault and enjoy the pure nature. Roja already has good hands, so you can't tell if it's cow or horse or more piglets. So it looks ... anyway it smells for the first 2-3h, which is longer than one episode. So you really can't complain about the performance. Sometime in the evening everything calms down and the wood strangling mixture turns more and more into a wood spice mixture.
But, but, but, there are berries and organs, and look.. Yes, there are. In my bathroom, when I wash this stuff off with soap and then try to olfactorically clean it with these synthetic scent fresheners. Yes, synthetics in this case trumps Roja Doves O!
And yes, I know Oud is not for everyone. But there are also oud scents that I respect, which are much more wearable and offer a minimum of decency and non-violence, especially towards Europeans. I would not put oud in this category. So why one fragrance gets 8.4 / 10 and others - admittedly not so artfully designed fragrances - are severely punished, is not quite clear to me. But my moral sense of justice is itching so much that I simply feel statistically compelled to give the fragrance a very low number.
And why O at all? S for stable or B for barn would be more appropriate. But, well, Oh dear might fit, too. Maybe a flanker in 2021 called P. Ugh
