Disappointing

This was a huge disappointment for me. The jasmine is enough to choke you blind. Unless you absolutely love the scent of jasmine, I'd suggest steering clear of this one. Oud and jasmine are simply too overly saturated in this fragrance and from the first spray, presenting you with a powerful, almost nauseating blast.

Lovely Jasmine, overpriced

Hmm, this wears very differently on me than the two other reviewers.

I sampled it on the recommendation that this is a more “elevated” Jasmin Rouge. This was available at the time for a good deal so I initially went with this one without doing a direct side by side.

OJ is a warmer, "golden" jasmine, and closer to a soliflore than JR. The background elements in OJ meld and create a fizzy, sweet kind of sun-baked sand-crusted sweet yeast roll smell.

JR is, IMO, a more impressively composed scent. Yes, the jasmine there is comparatively tame (more of a neutered sweet jasmine) but the background feels more sophisticated and interesting. It reminds me of the smell of summer sun-bleached dead vegetation covered in a thick morning dew; dry floral hay with cool sweet moisture?

As both wear they become more similar, the jasmine in OJ backs down a little and becomes slightly more prominent in JR.

If you note, I now own them both. I didn’t find this took the place of Jasmin Rouge. It is actually closer to Jasmine Antique on me, but honestly that one is also better.

It’s still a beautiful scent, but IMO no where near worth the ridiculous MSRP, especially with 2 cheaper (better) available options.

Jasmine tsunami!

Oud jasmine is a very rich jasmine extrait, smoky, leathery and incensy, with strong animalesque accents and earthy. This is a very sensual exotic rich and heady perfume with beast mode sillage and excellent longevity of 24 hours and this is in hot weather; can't wait to try it out in the fall and winter. A definite masterpiece from the Signore Visconti!
