THE Amber?
Many praise him to the heavens. Now it is only available in a set with the Star Musk for a whopping 600 bucks. That's quite something. Why are they so expensive? Well, as Herbert Stricker once mentioned in a video - because they can, it's always sold out anyway. Well, where he's right, he's right.

Now for the scent:
Incredibly pleasantly soft amber that keeps you sniffing your hand. In the opening it reminded me a bit of Intense Cafe. Not nearly as synthetic or strong coffee and rose notes but then somehow in the overall picture. In the further course, this initial association evaporates and it goes more into a pleasing vanilla soft amber. Oops! Then suddenly Blue Amber by Montale jumped into my nose. Pleasant and not so brute. Creamy and cuddly.

I would even say that it is not worth the price. I can think of a few other fragrances in the price range that I would rather use, but there's no question that it's good

An Amber Dream ... Here they are again ... the hearts in the eyes :)
Actually, I just wanted to help a dear perfume lover and bought the last 2 ml for sharing so it would be complete and she could finally have her dream scent :)
When the sample arrived, I was initially not impressed and rather disappointed ... I couldn't understand the various praises at all. I was aware of the price, and I also knew that Amber Star is only available with its white brother (Star Musk) in a set.
A sigh of relief on my part ... Thank God ... I don't like it :)
Well ... as is proper for a decent perfume lover, it gets tested again ... and heavens ... what happened?
The sweet smell is in amber heaven and dreams away ... I can't stop smelling her wrist ... she has hearts in her eyes! ... what drama ... this price! *gulp*
Amber Star ... you are my star in the amber sky!

About the scent:
Amber Star is a fragrance that I can hardly describe ... but I'll try anyway. It is very complex, yet somehow linear ... I would see it as scent nuances that shift and complement each other.
In the opening, I perceive a somewhat stubborn cedarwood, amber, and a bit of ylang-ylang. These notes together are a bit of an acquired taste, even creaky but still harmonious.
With guaiac wood, myrrh, balsamic notes, and spices, the scent continues to evolve. The more I wear the fragrance, the more I notice that something animalistic occasionally shows its claws.
The base is a dream!
Resinous from opoponax and benzoin. Sandalwood adds a fine and creamy touch. Vanilla is just a delicate player in this spicy-woody-resinous scent symphony.
Amber Star is very present ... it is not tender, but soft-hugging-warming.
The longevity is around 10 hours plus ... the sillage is already quite noticeable.
I wouldn't limit Amber Star to seasons ... but I can't imagine wearing the scent in the height of summer.
Unisex ... absolutely!
The bottle ... a dream ... high-quality, elegant, and absolutely worthy of this scent.

Conclusion:
I'm dreaming away! An amber dream! Warm-soft-spicy and so present! Here they are again ... the hearts in the eyes. Perfect!

This is how amber should be ... this scent absolutely deserves the star in its name ... well done, Xerjoff!

I don't find the price you have to pay for it very good, and I also didn't like that you are basically forced to get Star Musk with Amber Star.
Both scents are meant for layering, and I resisted that :)
But heavens, the two together are worth a double dream ... because together they create an incredibly beautiful unity.
By now, I also can't imagine being without the "white brother" ... worn solo, it’s also a dream :)

I'm not giving a test recommendation ... I just whisper it quietly into the room ;)

So Close to Heaven
There are things in life that are simply beautiful. Some are even really beautiful. Increases in enthusiasm are not excluded. Whether it’s a delightful smile that takes your breath away, a truly delicious meal, a beautifully staged photograph, a natural landscape that leaves you speechless, or anything else that is beautiful. Every little person gets an increased pulse from different things. And that's a good thing.

And then there are things that are SO beautiful that they leave me personally quite speechless. Anyone who has had the misfortune of dealing with me knows that I rarely can keep my mouth shut. I usually do this 1.) when I eat, 2.) when I sleep (though that's only optional...) and 3.) when I am truly speechless because something/someone is so wonderful. In the worst case, I stammer foolishly, look at the ground, or giggle like a little girl. Amusing for others, but a bit embarrassing for me.

I received this noble drop from JasON, to whom I would like to thank for this heavenly olfactory experience! Sweet as he is, I got the double package together with Shooting Stars - Star Musk. According to the fragrance pyramids, I assumed that I would prefer Star Musk more, as scents whose main theme is woody notes don’t usually excite me. To my own surprise, I liked both equally well. Liking... pfff... is an understatement!
When I tested these masterpieces, I stammered, giggled, and got glassy-eyed. Afterwards, people checked my pulse because I neither ate nor slept and still kept my mouth shut. At least for a while... ;)
What an art! WOW. The scent is so wonderfully composed, the individual components are woven together so beautifully, I ... am speechless. Still. Overall, Amber Star starts fresh, but is immediately soft and subtly floral, then becomes smoky-spicy, always underlined by noble woods. It gets sweeter and even softer over time. Indeed, like a journey to the stars!
I propose that a star should be named after this scent. Amber Star sounds more beautiful than most star names I know (though that’s not my field of expertise, and I can only find the Big Dipper with guidance!) and maybe we can pool our pocket money together, then it would be enough.
Or, one could invest in these scents, which are now available at a good price in a double pack. Well, not really a bargain, but cheaper than owning a star.

In conclusion, this would not be a scent I would personally wear. Although it is infinitely beautiful. It is almost too beautiful; it almost hurts. A journey to the edge of what I can bear, almost at the brink of burning. So I stay on Earth, sigh, giggle foolishly, and let it and its counterpart drift away. But I will keep the butterflies in my stomach. *sigh*
PS: You can find much more about the scent and its development in JasON's wonderful comment, which I would like to recommend to you. :)

Envelops you and others
When I entered our company premises this morning, a colleague came towards me. The "Good morning" was soon followed by "Totti, you smell good." Instead of asking, as would be my usual way, "yes, and why don't you?" I graciously thanked him. No question, I was genuinely pleased by the compliment.

A few hours later, at lunchtime, I held the door open for a female colleague to our open-plan office. As she was already a few meters away, she turned around and asked, "Before I forget again what I wanted to ask you earlier: Which perfume are you wearing today?" The question marks in her eyes were unmistakable when I replied, "XerJoff Amber Star / Star Musk layered." A bit uncertain, I asked, "Why, do you like it?" to which she responded, "Yes, it's very intense."
Later, I thought about maybe sending her a link to ALZD, where it is currently available. However, I ultimately dropped that thought. Because the price might raise even more questions *g

Interim conclusion: The longevity is very good (12 hrs+), the sillage significantly stronger than one would believe. You feel gently enveloped and lovingly caressed by the scents (one can never get enough of that), but caution is definitely advised with the dosage. See Angua's comments on this :)

And the scent itself? As I said, today I layered Amber Star with Star Musk.
I would associate AS with powdery, dry, cozy characteristics. I perceive the sweetness as rather subtle and the scent progression largely linear (aside from the first 10 minutes). A fine, elegant woody note is always present, but floral notes do not reach the threshold of my receptors :)
It may well be that my nose is not yet sufficiently trained to sniff out all the nuances. However, that does not prevent me from enjoying the scent and recommending a test to other perfume lovers.
I consider a 90% rating to be appropriate and reflective of the class of the scent and my feelings. The 100 points or percent are, similar to wine, reserved only for truly exceptional works.

A brief closing word: This was my first comment, but hopefully still a small help in gaining an impression of AS :)

Woody and slightly salty (ambergris) opening. Then balsamic, spicy and resinous. Also a sweet and slightly animalic vanilla in the base.

Balsamic, smoky, elegance and sweet. But this subtle taste cannot be expressed by the word 'sweet'.

Opener: a blast of boozy vanilla. Drying down the amber shows its more oriental and woody side. Nice fall/winter scent!

Uplifting sweetness, dry woods & warm spices.
Creamy vanilla pitted against boozy opoponax.
Strikes me as a high-end origin of SWY flankers.

A slightly spicy/animalic, oriental-woody Winter fragrance, balanced by a creamy sweet resinous-woody base. Nice vanilla-ambergris combo!

Spicy, woody amber with rich balsams, a touch of vanilla, and animalic undertones. Ylang-ylang adds a floral touch. Strong performance.

When layered with star musk, it’s absolutely breathtaking and to die for, this is what niche perfumery is all about

Amber Star is about as close to perfection as anything I've ever smelled. LOVE it!

Opens w/ amber & tad musky, dries balsamic & woody, amber not as prominent as expected, little sweetness. Puzzling why this is so popular.
