THE Amber?
Many praise him to the heavens. Now it is only available in a set with the Star Musk for a whopping 600 bucks. That's quite something. Why are they so expensive? Well, as Herbert Stricker once mentioned in a video - because they can, it's always sold out anyway. Well, where he's right, he's right.

Now for the scent:
Incredibly pleasantly soft amber that keeps you sniffing your hand. In the opening it reminded me a bit of Intense Cafe. Not nearly as synthetic or strong coffee and rose notes but then somehow in the overall picture. In the further course, this initial association evaporates and it goes more into a pleasing vanilla soft amber. Oops! Then suddenly Blue Amber by Montale jumped into my nose. Pleasant and not so brute. Creamy and cuddly.

I would even say that it is not worth the price. I can think of a few other fragrances in the price range that I would rather use, but there's no question that it's good

So close to heaven
There are things in life that are simply beautiful. Some even really beautiful. Increases in enthusiasm are not excluded. Whether it's a delightful smile that takes your breath away, a really delicious meal, a nobly staged photograph, a natural landscape that leaves you speechless or anything else that's beautiful. So every little person gets a raised pulse from other things. That is also good so.

And then there are things that are SO beautiful that they leave me personally pretty speechless. Anyone who has ever had the misfortune of dealing with me knows that I rarely hold my babble. I usually do 1.) when I'm eating, 2.) when I'm sleeping (though there only optional...) and 3.) when I'm really speechless because something/someone is so great. In the worst case I stammer stupidly, look at the floor or giggle like a little girl. For others usually amusing, me then nevertheless something embarrassing.

I got this noble drop from JasON, whom I thank at this point for this heavenly olfactory experience! Lovely as he is, I got the double package along with Shooting Stars - Star Musk. According to the fragrance pyramids, I assumed that Star Musk would appeal to me more, because fragrances whose main theme is woody notes tend not to excite me. To my own amazement, I liked them both equally. Like... pfff... is not an expression!
When I tested these masterpieces, I stammered, I giggled, and I got glazed eyes. Afterwards, people would check my pulse, because I wasn't eating or sleeping, yet I still kept the shower going. At least for a while... ;)
What an art! WOW. The fragrance is so magically composed, the individual components so wonderfully interwoven, I ... am speechless. Still. Overall, Amber Star starts fresh, but is immediately soft and subtly floral-soft, then becomes smoky-spicy, always underpinned by precious woods. It becomes sweeter and even softer with time. Indeed, like a journey to the stars!
I'm all for naming a star after this fragrance. Amber Star sounds nicer than most star names I'm familiar with (though that's not my field of expertise and I can only find the Big Dipper with guidance at best!) and maybe we'll pool our pocket money sometime and that'll do it.
Or else, you invest in these fragrances, which are now available cheaply in doubles. Well, not really Schnapper, but, cheaper than a star of their own.

In conclusion, this would be for me personally actually no fragrance that I would wear. Although, it is so endlessly beautiful. It is almost too beautiful, it almost hurts. A journey to the limit of what is bearable for me, almost on the verge of burning. So I stay grounded, sigh, chuckle goofily, and let him and his counter star move on. I leave the butterflies in my stomach with me, though. *sigh*
PS: For much more on the scent and the progression, you can check out JasON's wonderful commentary, which I encourage you to read. :)

Very helpful Review 19
Amber, the stuff of... Crap is made of.
Before we reach for the amber stars a short digression:
I recently got to test what it means to swim in the afternoon at Louis Vuitton. They call it "Afternoon Swim" and package it in light blue transparent vials. The result after a short but intense splash was refreshing, but unfortunately I constantly had the feeling that Lous Vuitton had located his pool directly at a farm and the adjacent cowshed.

What does the whole thing have to do with Amber Stars by Xerjoff?
After applying Amber Stars stings me again, but only initially this penetrating and now already familiar scent in the mind.

What can that be?

Well, a quick look at the fragrance notes expose the two commonalities of the 2 Dufte, which seen as a whole, but have very very little in common:

Amber!

This provocative introduction goes quite with the (for me) provocative opening of this high quality and complex fragrance.
It just has to be ambergris that makes the immediate association with me to the farm, more specifically, the cow barn in the neighboring village of my home.
Not absolutely horrible, if you're into pure nature, but pay extra to wear it on your skin, I really don't want to.
But as already mentioned, this amber develops in the Amber Stars of Xerjoff but after a short time to a relatively tart and dark fragrance mixture, which truly reaches to the stars.
The contained ylang-ylang, which can also be strongly perceived, awakens in me further similarities to the Black Orchid perfume by Tom Ford (the golden bottle) and that alone makes the fragrance good. In the highly complex and fine drydown are further also the bourbon vanilla for me more noticeable, but to filter out individual fragrance notes, my nose is simply not enough still trained.

To readers of this review not to get lost: this fragrance has altogether purely nothing to do with Afternoon Swim by LV, which is definitely rather a fragrance for warm days, whereas Amber is probably optimal for colder days, as they come now.
The fragrance fits better for me in the evening to elegant clothes and is absolutely unisex suitable for me. At the same time I see the fragrance both in women and men with style and upscale wardrobe as well as age. (Absolutely no high school prom potential)

Durability and sillage is very strong, and to the projection I can hardly say something concrete, but would think that he properly bangs (but with style of course;)

I will not buy the fragrance so soon, also because the price shocks and deters from it.
Should I do that but ever, that is with certainty rather a grip on the stars than a grip in the dunghill!

Completion
Xerjoff has long been an unwritten piece of paper for me. Just like Roja once was. Especially in my early days, I avoided the really big scents. This was partly due to my respect for the fragrance itself and also because of the numerous reviews, which are mostly positive to very positive. Looking back, it was absolutely outrageous, because fair reviews count here and I could not contribute anything bad. I wanted to find the hair in the soup, but I didn't manage to do it and that although I really tried hard. And THAT only because this one should not be on the wish list.
I don't care anymore. The smell is really good, really, really good. That reads sund can also be read and recognized by the previous comments.

It's getting colder now. Surely such a scent would suit you particularly well. The oriental-woody flair is very inviting. Balsamic notes make it wonderfully wearable and not intrusive. I appreciate that very much about fragrances. Not too loud, but not too quiet either. This special compromise and strength. This makes them versatile, both at work and in everyday life itself.

The star in this ensemble is clearly the amber. There's no need to hide that. And the rest is placed around it, knowing that Amber sets the tone, but also knowing that without her as the other components Amber would never shine like this. To represent this so extremely harmoniously is great art and undoubtedly very difficult. It's like Sweetsmell: it's a complex fragrance, but it follows a clear line. No big surprises are needed here.

At the beginning, as already described, the amber is in the foreground. A bit bitchy at the beginning myrrh is added. The scent seems a bit peculiar and bulky here and only becomes a bit calmer when cedar wood joins in.
Here the fragrance is undoubtedly good, but it still lacks the decisive harmony that ultimately makes it so special and balanced. When the top note has settled a bit and guaiac wood becomes noticeable, it becomes more balsamic and spicy. I like this development, as it turns the fragrance upside down a bit.
Since real highlight actually follows in the base. I am a great friend of vanilla in fragrances, especially in combination with sandalwood. The fragrance itself gets a noticeable sweetness, but no obtrusive and annoying, but well-dosed nuances, they fit in wonderfully here. Through the interplay with amber, which is still the center of attention, the fragrance gets a great depth and smells so exceptionally engaging. The initially spicy, but somewhat creaky impression now becomes creamier, lulling. Completion of a great fragrance concept.

The shelf life is good. But I expect the same from a fragrance in the price range. The projection and the perception are also very neat, well balanced between: I'm always there, but actually only for you. I give the rest a little sample of myself, but still belong only to you!
I think this way of Xerjoff is great (regardless of whether it is intended or not). It is not obtrusive and yet always there and the full 12 hours.

For this winter, however, the ordered filling must be sufficient. Xerjoff has already disappointed me. For this reason and also because I want to test it in combination with Star Musk. I hope that the sharing will work. If it works, I will certainly be one more candidate to buy! :)

Woody and slightly salty (ambergris) opening. Then balsamic, spicy and resinous. Also a sweet and slightly animalic vanilla in the base.

Opens w/ amber & tad musky, dries balsamic & woody, amber not as prominent as expected, little sweetness. Puzzling why this is so popular.

Think the same DNA as Grand Soir but it goes its own way. This reduces sweetness and slightly has an incense quality with a creamy powdery base.
