I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass..
... and I have more than enough bubblegum!

"Kham-Sin" is hardly worth a sin, acts like chewing gum meets toothpaste, "One Million" meets "La Nuit de L'Homme". By all means of niche quality, from its distinctive, intrusive fragrance idea, however, rather for many a no-go. For me and my still sweet, often also the designer hits devoted nose, but loosely good. Just neither creative nor cheap. Excessively overpriced rather. But that's only in the B-note. Minty tangerine sweetness, basically. "Encounter" by Calvin Klein sends its regards, too, if anyone still knows it. "Litter," say evil tongues. But I can smell quality and fine ingredients. Just in a highly drugstore-like orientation. As if they wanted to sell you "Le Male" for 200€. As if to show that a picture painted by a monkey or a small child sells for a fortune in "connoisseur circles". "Khal-Sim" is therefore a somewhat tongue-in-cheek petitgrain(alp)dream with synth-hubba bubba overkill dress.

Flacon: concentration on the Juice
Sillage: minimally weaker than about the gold bar
Durability: 9 hours - also minimally weaker than the classic reference points

Conclusion: a powdery bubble gum linger - designer attitude at a niche price. Good joke. One Trillion

What are you?
I have to seriously ask myself this question with Salle Privées Kham Sin. Here mixes very much together, or rather is thrown together in a pot, stirred vigorously and bottled. But everything in turn.

The prelude makes here the peppermint, which is rather in the category of toothpaste / chewing gum, instead of finding themselves in the natural spectrum. Dadrunter are a few delicate herbs to find, the thyme is clearly recognizable. This combination of notes alone is strongly reminiscent of a late 80's herbal flavored green toothpaste. Next, things get pretty sweet. The tangerine becomes more and more present and mixes with the notes of amber resins. Unfortunately, the sweetness reaches a very penetrating level as time goes on, which coupled with the fruitiness of the tangerine makes me feel slightly nauseous. As it progresses, it becomes a bit more gourmand. First the patchouli shows itself timidly, which already comes along quite chocolaty, only to then clear the way for tonka bean and real chocolate. In principle, you now have to do with a tangerine compote on chocolate pudding, topped with salty caramel and mint.

Sounds delicious, doesn't it?

Well, on closer inspection, the compote turns out to be foul-sweet, the pudding over-sugared, and the mint toothpaste.

Kham Sin is the sixth and last fragrance of the current collection (Le Temps Perdu, Super 8, Celluloid Heroes, Monochrome and Concorde) of the house of Salle Privée, which I was allowed to test. Unsurprisingly, it joins the house's collection of misfits just like its brothers and sisters. A fragrance that comes across as so discordant, cluttered and out of tune that it almost hurts. I'm sorry that I find such harsh words here, however, I am really upset that such failed creations for so much money are offered for sale.

I will now turn my back to the house for the time being and dedicate myself again to a few more beautiful compositions

Three Deadly Kham-Sins
The last issue of the magazine "test" of Stiftung Warentest reports on the occasion of the ban on plastic disposable drinking straws in the EU from 1 July 2021 on various new edible alternatives based on sugar, rice starch or simply pasta dough (so macaroni pure in the long drink). Some of them failed because they, originally respectable, go limp after ten minutes and after fifteen metamorphose into mushy slush, which is detrimental to the unadulterated drinking pleasure.

I had to think of this with this fragrance, or in short, we have here, in my opinion, an astreinen Kopfnotenblender before us.

The beginning impresses still fresh and original, a strong mandarin note, still extra deeply contoured by the addition of petitgrain, plus the green freshness of rosemary and mint. To this I feel something like a salty breeze, as in my 10-point fragrance Azemour les Orangers. This doesn't just come across as summery-light-fresh, though, because sweet and spicy, rather gourmand, at least full-bodied, aromas and a hint of dirty patchouli seep up from the heart and base here right from the start. I like that a lot, it's full-bodied-fresh in an exciting way, and that comes across as precious.

The clarity and originality of the beginning, however, is sustained only about a quarter of an hour, then the internal tension of the fragrance dissolves and everything melts into a highly unoriginal, even diffuse, cheap, a hundred times smelled generic sweet-spicy Schlubberbasis. Even at this stage, certainly not a bad, unpleasant fragrance, but a brutal fall from the hopes that the strong beginning had allowed to blossom.

The fact that I give the fragrance ultimately even less than the 7, which certainly could have been given, is due to a second and third mortal sin after the top note blenderi.

The name of the fragrance fits like shoots the fist off and fits like the apple on the eye, because a Khamsin is a desert wind, with which I associate hardness, dryness, heat and minerality and not a mandarin dessert with Tonkacreme.

And the house Salle Privee, despite the French name of Dutch provenance (but then the fragrances are made in France) is a not very sympathetic to me newly opened (2018, although this fragrance is supposedly from 2017, a mystery!) fragrance-and-lifestyle house where, besides perfumes like this one (190 euros per 100 ml), you can also buy illustrated books about the classic era of Formula 1, plain white T-shirts for 90 euros or ostrich leather shoes for 2360 euros (the pair after all, not one alone). That's not quite my thing, even if the fragrance must of course not be bad because of it.

Very big thanks to MCPS for redirecting the won sample collection to my address, and I'll stay tuned. Maybe the other 5 products still bring an increase.

Classic elegance
The first sprayer is fresh classic with a hint of spicy depth. I find the chocolaty-tone cabbage is very well perceived, it accompanies the whole fragrance process. This fragrance has a certain presence for me, occupies a larger room without unpleasantly touching. It comes directly to my mind that is the classically elegant and very groomed man in a perfectly fitting tailor-made suit - who also likes to play golf, appreciate a good cognac and treat his wife as a lady. In the course of the next hours the freshness is gone and the fragrance has a very pleasant and dark depth. The scent holds very well and becomes also somewhat herbaceous, very interesting. At the end of the day there remains something warm, not sweet, rather rounded off with light cabbage accompanied by fine patchouli. Patchouli has something earthy for me, this man stands firmly on the ground with both legs, nothing knocks him over so quickly and you lean wonderfully against his shoulders. He's my warming coat for all time... always!
