An Orris-Scented Forest at Dusk
Sama JARDIN d'IRIS, an all-natural, mostly organic perfume, opens with the characteristic earthiness of many natural perfumes. However, it does not exhibit the amateurish quality which I have sometimes encountered in the offerings of all-natural houses. JARDIN D'IRIS seems instead to be a fully composed perfume. It is rich and layered, with a texture which makes me think immediately of ambergris. The darkness, too, calls to mind ambergris, but maybe I'm simply being overwhelmed by the genuine sandalwood--a rarity in perfumery today, it seems.

The iris here is orris root, not the delicate petals, and I would call this an oriental before a floral perfume... The woody quality reminds me of walking through the woods at dusk, twigs snapping beneath my feet. JARDIN D'IRIS opens up a beautiful scented forest through which I hope to wander again in the future...

An Idea of an Ancient Scent, documented in the NT of the Bible
To answere the most of this overwhelming "Jardin d' Iris", for instance the question of the gender-compatibility, I will cite out of the King James Bible "KJV Sword Study Bible, New Testament, documented by the disciple John, Chapter 12, Verses 1 - 3, probable reported 69 AD before the fall of Jerusalem :
"1. Then Je'sus six days before the passover came to Beth' a-ny, where Laz' a-rus was which had been dead, whom He raised from the dead.
2. There they made Him a supper; and Mar' tha served: but Laz' a-rus was one of them that sat on the table with Him.
3. Then took Ma'ry a pound of ointment of SPIKENARD, very costly, and anointed the feet of Je' sus, and wiped His feet with her hair: an the house was filled with the odor of the ointment."
What a touching and hidden erotic scene of love and devotion.
"Jardin d' Iris" has an overwhelmingly superb odor of genuin Mysore Sandel, orris made from genuin orris-roots, plus the unique clear, sweet and sparkling taste of spike-narde, enriched by whiffs of spices and orange-blossoms. And I suppose the raisin of elemi too plus different secretly ingredients.
Yes, and the odor of "Jardin d' Iris" is filling my soul with unimaginably joy.

Tuned Carrot

Seerose has already described in detail what the house of Sama is all about, so I don't need to do that again.
Sama claims 100% natural, 84% organic. Well, whatever. They probably also produce the included alcohol organically. It's quite simple, because this is where alcoholic fermentation comes into play, and it works best with sugary fruits (vegetables work too, but it takes longer), so when this stuff sits around and the sun shines on it, it starts to bubble. That's the alcoholic fermentation, and it produces fusel, no, not fusel.
I get the carrot flash just seconds after applying. Of course, there are no carrots in it, but with overly dominant iris scents, this is possible. There are different species of iris. Some don't smell at all, some smell sweet-dusty, others smell like carrots, although I don't know if iris is botanically related to carrots. Normally, I love iris. It gives fragrances the infamous powdery note and is also present in many chypres. However, Jardin d'Iris strongly reminds me of "Hiris" by Hermes, and when I described the carrot impression back then, I got a long set of ears from the enthusiasts.
The mentioned note holds its ground, and I was about to classify the scent under "Well, okay."
Then there's speik. This is a plant from the valerian family. Quite bitter-sweet-minty. Supposed to be very calming. But not for me, and my cats (cats are supposed to react euphorically to valerian) were completely unimpressed, so they didn't seem like they had smoked anything or beamed themselves into the 4th dimension.
After the carrot phase, the scent becomes really nice. Orange blossom, creamy-woody with a hint of unsweetened vanilla.
Jardin d'Iris won't make it into my top ten, but there will be occasions to wear it.

Enchanting Nard…
With the first sniff, I get that "cheesy foot vibe" again….

This often happens to me with nard……until it starts to reveal, alongside its sweet resinous and slightly animalistic notes, the fine, fresh-spicy aspects……

This fragrance ingredient is indeed enchanting and fascinating……time and again, my nose wanders to the back of my hand…..

Sweet orange blossom follows, along with wonderfully creamy sandalwood…..Iris remains in the background for me, but contributes a slightly earthy-powdery note….

That it is a natural fragrance is unmistakable…..those familiar with Primavera essential oils can roughly imagine where the journey is headed…..

Nevertheless, it is a very pleasant, calming, and grounding scent, where the nard (to my nose) remains consistently dominant……..

It exudes a harmonious aura of peace and security…….and also a certain degree of spirituality……

Personally, I see it more in my fragrance lamp…..though very, very gladly :-)…

Such an Iris Garden Could Please Me Too
Jardin d'Iris is now the third of five Sama fragrances, and after testing Deva des Fleurs and Ambre Rose yesterday with very different results, I approached the next one with quite a bit of interest.

Before that, I took a look at the Sama website and was quite impressed. All the fragrances are listed as 100% natural, with 80% of the fragrance components even coming from organic farming. Each of the fragrances is said to have a certain influence on our well-being - Jardin d'Iris, for example, "is where heaven and earth meet, where the feminine and masculine connect and merge into love, beauty, and harmony," as described by Beautyshop. It further states that the energetic properties of Jardin d'Iris are said to promote trust, serenity, and an invitation to love.

Basically, iris is not quite my usual preference, but even Impossible Iris surprised me, and this one is no different. But the part about the invitation to love - I don't know.

The opening is very similar to Ambre Rose, although neither benzoin nor labdanum are included here. It has a distinctly resinous-herbaceous opening with a very slight sweetness, and it is much shorter than in Ambre Rose. Immediately after, orange blossom, vanilla, and sandalwood blend in, creating a soft, slightly sweet composition. Iris contributes a minimal earthiness and its characteristic powderiness.

In contrast to my test candidates from yesterday, the longevity of Jardin d'Iris is quite limited. In my case, it doesn't even last three hours. Its sillage is also somewhat lacking in comparison; this fragrance is very close to the skin.

Jardin d'Iris is truly beautiful, but I doubt I would spend that much money on it. It just lacks too much.
