Could be a Montale
..... could. But it isn't. However, it is in the same league scent-wise.
It knows exactly what matters. A wonderful, soft, smoky patchouli scent. Only patchouli is listed among the ingredients, but I could bet that there is also frankincense, myrrh, and possibly sandalwood in it. This fragrance has good and long-lasting endurance, and the sillage is not "from bad parents."
Anyone who thinks that this scent leads to a "musty cellar" is very mistaken.
Rather, it reminds one of a forest after the rain, fresh potting soil, and well-seasoned, top-quality firewood.
With its fine smokiness, I can almost describe it as "balsamic" and warm, with great depth.
Only very subtly does it change its scent profile over the course of wearing it, and at no point does it have a penetrating "presence."
It transitions very gently from "chestnut brown" to "mahogany," if I were to assign colors to it.
With a hint of green.
It is a "well-trained" scent, not a "muscle-bound" type like the former Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Everything feels very natural and healthily robust.
