Green freshness, great underrated fragrance

Blind bought this for £30 - no regrets at all. It's fresh and green. Reminds me of a crisp, damp winter morning in a forest. Great for year round use. Love the bottle design, but the cap and atomiser do feel a little cheap. I'd absolutely recommend checking this out if you're in the market for a non-aquatic, green freshie on a budget.

ordered blindly, no regrets

I took the plunge and ordered Chapter 4 blindly based on descriptions and reviews, and what can I say: I am happy with it. I hate everything that smells sweet; I can't stand it. I wouldn't completely label Chapter 4 as a fresh scent; I smell rose and apple, but I don't perceive either scent as sweet. The fragrance has depth without being unpleasant. I happily sniff my arm, and unlike my citrusy or aquatic scents, I find Chapter 4 neither fruity nor floral. Delicate without being weak. I love it!!

Neo-Aqua-Fougére

In its own words, Skandinavisk tells Chapter 4 of the gentle landing of a bug on a pebbly shore, the slippery touch of damp rock moss underfoot, and the fragrant green embrace of gnarled apple wood and wild rose.
All enjoyed after a long aimless glide through the skerries and shallows of the Scandinavian coast, in sparkling water and rocky shadows.

They not only create good scents (which have been around for a while in candles and body care products and now, relatively late, also as perfume), but also write texts that make your mouth water.
However, anyone who thinks of a nature-inspired, edgy niche fragrance with essential oils and wild plant extracts after this picturesque description will find themselves disappointed within the first few seconds.
Water - yes, but Cool Water.
We start aquatic-fresh with Calone and other noticeable synthetics, which, unlike so often, are very pleasant here and convey a relaxed freshness.
From the middle, a rather special wood note comes in, almost something rubbery - a clever twist to maintain the tension.
Chapter 4 modernizes the classic Fougére theme a step further than Cool Water did back then, so to speak in the third generation: the original idea of freshness, water, moisture, and purity on a green base of ferns, moss, and stones remains and is implemented here with an even more modern composition, where the volume is toned down and overall comes across as much more subtle.

I find Chapter 4 wears wonderfully. It’s one for everyday use, uncomplicated yet special enough not to be boring, light and unobtrusive, so you don’t have to think about the context.
You could actually wear it whenever you feel like diving into clear shallow seawater for a refreshing return to the shade on the mossy rocks.
For me, that admittedly happens quite often during the day.
