Simple, unpretentious, smells nice
I have worn a lot of different perfumes at a lot of different price points. And while I wear fragrances for myself, not for others... the one fragrance that has gotten me the most compliments hasn't been anything designer, hasn't been anything niche— it's been this little bottle I picked up from a bookstore for ten bucks.
Amber Liquid is exactly what it says. It's amber (the resin blend that's popular in the Middle East, not ambergris or its chemical counterparts), in liquid form, to be dabbed on the wrists or neck (possibly tinting your skin in splotches, depending on how pale you are). The version I have is in a "fancy" bottle, a spindly and thin-necked glass affair plugged up with beeswax for transport. I wouldn't call it a solinote, since amber by definition is a mixture of materials, but I wouldn't call it a proper perfume, either. But I don't think it is trying to be one. Its purpose is to make the people around you say "oh, something smells nice", and that it does. It's not about to win any awards, but it's not trying to.
This stuff hangs around forever, too. I used to wear it when I worked food service, and it'd be just as strong after the end of a tired, sweaty night as it was in the morning.
